Lock vs Lock or Lock Vs. Hunter?
OK PVP situation. What sort of spells or combinations do you like to use when your a Warlock fighting another Warlock or Warlock attacking a hunter. All other classes are a no brainer because your going to just sick your pet on the player, fear, dot, shoot etc. and be done with it. Me personally. With hunters I just sick my pet on the other player, dot and just try to jump around and evade their pet from doing a lot of damage on me. This doesn't always work too good. With attacking Warlocks I go to Banish the other guys pet immediately then try to fear and dot the other warlock. Mixed results here also. Spells. Immediate casts (Curse of Agony and Corruption) work great, Fear works great obviously, Death Coil is good but you only get one shot. Wand, Searing Pain is also fast. Very rarely do I have the chance to squeeze out a shadow bolts its bit too slow a cast for PVP. I don't find too many other Warlock spells very useful. But maybe I am missing something. I am not yet speced for Shadowburn. What do you think about a CoW and Corruption combo in PVP?? Felguard would in theory do a lot more mele damage with that applied to another player compared to Curse of Agony and Corruption. Has someone run the numbers??? |

Re: Lock vs Lock or Lock Vs. Hunter?
Take a look at: How do I kill a ? - The Warlocks Den Forums It's stickied. Sadly I couldn't see a section for locks in that post so I'll quickly post my thoughts on both. BUT! I urge you to read the stickies before making a new thread that's been covered before. Take a look around and see what's happening with the site. There's a lot of talk about using the resources already there to save people posting / searching through even more stuff to get to the right info. Also this should have probably been posted in PvP, Battlegrounds & Arenas Just a friendly word of advice. This is the kind of thread that will get locked so please familiarize yourself with the current etiquette of The Den. It will make your stay way more pleasant. From a SL/SL with Felhunter perspective: Hunter: Set pet to attack the hunter. Run towards the hunter to get him to melee range while dotting the pet with siphon life, curse of weakness and corruption in that order. then dot the hunter with curse of agony, siphon life and corruption, perhaps immolate as well if you have a reasonable amount of health to be able to afford to not to spam drain life straight away. If you set off a snake trap use hellfire rank 1 or 2 so you don't hurt yourself as much as higher ranks, but it's enough to kill several low hp snakes in seconds. He'll try all sorts of shots to disorientate you and slow you but be like the terminator and stay focused on getting close to him until you can get your instant dots off and start draining him. Use trinket if you have to but usually this is the only class I never bother to fear or use trinkets on. Warlock: Spell lock warlock, fear him, banish his demon and if he trinkets out of fear deathcoil him and fear him again, then dot him up. Applying shadow ward when you get the chance and having a spellstone on helps a lot too. Using the chance to either immolate or nuke at the end of a fear will help too. Sometimes I use curse of tongues if the lock is gaining control so I can take it back again, but I prefer to get as much damage in early as possible. These won't cover every situation / spec but I've found it to be a generally successful approach. Sometimes you just have to react and adjust to the way it's going down but that only comes with experience. Last edited by Vaell; March 27, 2008 at 02:17 PM.. |

Re: Lock vs Lock or Lock Vs. Hunter?
I'm SL Hunters: If they are BM I run scared until the red goes away. Those pets rip me to shreds. Non BM hunters are pretty easy. Dot, DC, Dot, Dot drain until dead. its just that simple.

Re: Lock vs Lock or Lock Vs. Hunter?
Truthfully, the thing other warlocks forget most is shadowward. At level 68, it will save about 10% of my life. Secondly being, get the fear/deathcoil off first. I'm demo spec, so I have the FG intercept. Once the intercept hits, I fear, then dot.
