Re: Maybe I am missing something...
Well, any 2 players who has a tiny bit of resilience and knows how to play will ALWAYS win 1v2. In this game where heals>>Burst, all you need is a healer that learns how to heal, and trinkets some CCs. Sometimes, I see a rogue on a healer, I can choose to nuke the rogue with all my destro goodness, but the better play is really to fear the rogue off the priest first. But in BGs, this does not happen. 1v2 vs good players is still possible, but it REALLY relies on you being somewhat lucky with crits, and them not having a decent healers. You CAN go for the healers as the main target, but with Druid's uber healing, pain suppression, etc....it doesn't work too well. So all this 1v2 or more stuff only happens outside of arenas when healers don't heal(lol), and locks choose to shadowbolt you when they should be fearing you. In BGs, i can safely say you will continue to do well with the proper gear with destro. But anytime you come up against organized healing, or strong assist trains (Arenas), then destro is screwed. Destro is messed up in Arenas because arena favours outlasting mostly. I think 24% crit, 460 resilience and 11k health and 1000 damage is the maximum you can get if you have full s3 felweave and dreadweave mix. That is sufficient for it to work. You don't need professions for it to work. The only only exception being vs SHS rogues where a netherweave net/bomb will help when CLOS happens. But it is not crucial, those with max max gear and skill will beat you anyways. To be honest, the survivability issue is really down to the fact that SL/SL is easier to keep alive by healers. If you alone, or have no healing support, the difference is not huge. Also, if you have played SL/SL for the longest time, destro is a good thing to try. I am sure after learning it, your SL/SL game will be even more complete. *** Information added 4 Minutes and 5 Seconds later... *** Just to add, don't do destro with a succubus. You don't want to get into the habit where you have the target pin down and you slowly walk and do a big soul fire....doesn't happen in real life. Shadowfury, fear, deathcoil, fear, shadowfury again gives you A LOT of control already. But obviously a succubus is nice in 1v2, you can take out one of them for 10 secs, which is often what you need to take down a weakly geared player.

Re: Maybe I am missing something...
For BG fun/grind I reccomend a nightfall/backlash build, sure, it wont be enough to win a 1v3, but if you manage to find a 1v2 with a crappy melee DPS victory would be at hand. Besides, its a nice change from the slow SL/SL.

Re: Maybe I am missing something...
I have tried a nightfall /backlash build, but the much lower damage without emberstorm, shadow and flame hurts if you are 23/4/34. Also, without Shadowfury, it is very hard to get a fear off against decent players. 19/0/42 has shadowfury..but having no demonic embrace is kind of scary. I still think 7/7/47 is still the most balanced and versatile spec for destro. But those moments of Soul fire midcast with nightfall AND backlash procs, and then you see a Chain of 3 projectiles firing is pure bliss....

Re: Maybe I am missing something...
Yes, it does need a different play-style to do nightfall/backlash, i find it better than a shadowfury to kill single targets in AV and zerg AB/EotS and with talented DL and SL mana wont be that much of a problem, but its not that great to do small battles at AB/EotS and in WSG. As for why to kill single targets if you are gimping your damage (SoC+Shadowfury its insane DPS)? Well, i love to sniper locks and healers, dunno why.

Re: Maybe I am missing something...
NF/BL (Should actually be called SL/BL) is immensely fun, and i think it is the spec with the MAXIMUM amount of buttons you can press. Siphon Life, CoEx are very useful. It gives you so much flexibility at the expense of raw power that a 7/7/47 offers. SL/Backlash (23/4/34)= Huge flexibilty, gimped damage NF/Shadowfury (19/0/42) = Maxmium burst potential, strong damage, lower survavibility. 7/7/47 = Best damage, good burst potential, less the very useful CoEx and Siphon life.
