Up and comming lock
My lock is currently level 67. She is honor capped. When s4 was announced i've been busy getting her to 70. My lock will be a pvp toon only.
I will be doing the arena thing...2v2 and 3v3 brackets. My questions are as follows. 1. For these brackets, which gear choices should I make? 2. What classes in these brackets would be the better to best choices? 3. The people I will be playing arena with will be very seasoned pvp'ers, yet would anyone have any advice for an up and comming lock? 4. Assume a while down the road I have the full s2 gear...once I've gotten arena points...which order of things should I replace s2 with s4? IN reality...I know that I wont be a super god of arena...but my goal would be to get to 1800 or so..and be able to maintain it. P.S. For those of you that pvp alot as locks...do you guys respec for bg's? My lock was affliction in the 49 bracket...I had tons of fun with affliction...but as of late i've kind of fallen in love with destruction. Thanks in advance for all advice that is given or suggestions. Keep up the great work everyone. |

Re: Up and comming lock
1- For us warlock PvP gear is the best for PvP (not so for other classes), so go and replace your weakest items with S2 stuff. It might not be a bad idea to get guardian S4 items first, as they are not going to be replaced in a while, and S2 might be replaced soon if you get a good 5v5 (lots of points). Also, you might want to go for S2 shoulders first and then get the rest of the items going for the ones that require the highest raitings first.
2- Resto druid for 2v2 and rogue or warrior and druid for 3v3. 3- PvP a lot? Try to learn from each fight, try to use new tactics every now and then in BG and non rated matches, keep it calm and methodical in arena. 4- No idea, don't worry about this, when you have the point's and the personal raiting for that you'll probaby don't need this advice ![]() Nop, i never respec for BG, too lazy to farm for the money. |

Re: Up and comming lock
I'm sure you've heard of the SL/SL build? Warlock + serious PvP usually equals that. To a lesser extent I hear of some Felguard builds (The one that seems to be raid-viable as well) and a Shadowfury Destro build.

Re: Up and comming lock
Just an fyi in my experience SL/SL is a great 2s and 3s spec but its lack of burst in 5s makes it very crappy. If your playing 5s use a felguard you offer more cc/interrupts which is essentially a locks job in 5s as well as better damage of course.

Re: Up and comming lock
Toolband, your questions are very broad and each one would require significant time to answer before any variables are even considered. My advice is to spend some time reading the rate my gear thread as well as the pvp thread for general advice. Also, check out the link below for some excellent discussion on lock pvp:
