am i a noob?

greetings fellow locks. first of all let me conratulate you on this amazing website which i regulary visit. i give you my thumbs up. so here's my story:

i was questing in UN''goro when i see a 44 dwarf hunter. my first reaction was noticing that he was BM(spirit bond). he also saw me. so i immediatly let my felgurad intercept him and i fear his pet(king bangalash from stv) then i loaded the hunter with dots and started draining his mana. at that point his health was around 20% but he used a potion and got his health to 50%! so he sends his pet into bestial wrath(big red pet) and starts attacking me. i was about to kill him when he got a crit off me and killed me. he had 4% left on his health.
am i a noob for letting him kill me? is my health(3.3k) and mana(3.8k) under par? plz help! and sorry if this post was big. i tried my best to shorten it

I dont think your a noob at all. I think that Hunter got lucky and crit'd you at the best possible moment. Keep in mind he had to refill his life to even get it off. So you made him waste a potion on you. Good fight... even good pvp'ers lose sometimes.

I usually just fear them off me as quickly as possible. Depends how far into the fight you are. If your pretty far into it, i don't even bother with em.

If they are big and red, all you can do is drain life, cast CoW, get out of LoS, and pray.

ill try to keep that in mind. but too bad they are immune to it when they are big and red

Yeah, big and red = LoS, dot pet, hope for the best while spamming rain life. You would have killed him if you drained life instead of mana probs.

you just reminded me of a funny incident in the same fight. i mana drained him at the start. he was then oom and his last spell was makin his pet big and red. at that point i knew all was lost so i started drain lifing him. funny thing was that when my life was like 50 it would get to like 200 thanks to drain life. the same thing repeated it self for like 10 secs when the hunter, unhappy at his pet because he couldnt kill me approached me in melee and got the crit off. i kept laughing for 10 minutes

First thing, against a Big RED pet, is to stay calm. Put a Curse of Weakness on it, do it, it makes a big difference. And then just ignore the pet. Yes, a BM pet hurts, but since it has BWed, there is nothing you can do about it. CoW minimize this damage, but otherwise, no need to focus on the pet.

Load up on dots, try to get into his melee range to avoid shots, and just start draining his life, not mana. Unless he is low on mana anyways, i don't think it is very worthwhile to attack his mana. Remember, he cannot heal himself, so the more damage you do first, the better. Vs a BM hunter, it is a dps fight, you cannot CC him anyways.

Trying to fear the pet is difficult even before he is red is difficult if it is already on you. You are going to get push back from the pet as well as the hunters's shots.
