I was going to lay down the hurt

I logged my main lock on Saturday morning to find something very strange...I was flagged for PVP! Now, I'm on a non PVP server, and up to that morning had only PVP'd for two kills...Friday morning. Then I figured it out, my son must have logged my main on and went on a killing spree.

I checked my inventory to find a honor mark from two different BG's, checked my char sheet PVP stats, and I had gone from two HKs to almost sixty of them! Conserding that my main is only a 40 the little guy either got lucky, is good at this PVP stuff (I don't think so, his main pally gets smoked all the time when he BG's), or my lock is just that great. I want to think that it's option three, but actualy it's more like he got lucky.

At first I was pretty peeved off at the kid, but all things considered I'm kind of interested in PVP now. I think I'll have to give it a shot and see how I can do at it this morning.

So, anyone else have a funny/interesting story of how you got info PVP?

Re: I was going to lay down the hurt

I started on a PvP server with my first toon. Everything was fine, the occasional butt-kicking, but I fully expected that. Eventually, I made it to that magical place called STV... I switched to PvE soon after.

For all you guys that made it to 70 on PvP servers... hats off to you. Gawd knows I didn't have the patience

My first ever PvP kill was my Husband... and after the adrenaline rush and feeling of killing him raced through my body, I knew I had to have more!

Re: I was going to lay down the hurt

I'd always wanted to level on a PVP server and have had a couple of abortive attempts in the past. When I decided on a fresh start last Christmas, I decided to try again.

At first, I was extremely cautious. I did as many quests as possible in all of the non-flagged areas. I did my best to avoid being PVP flagged for the longest time. That kinda defeated the object but being PVP flagged really gave me The Fear!

Eventually, I had no choice but to get out there and I soon started to relax. Levelling these days is an exercise in solitude so no real risk was involved.

I had the occasional world PVP experience and at first, I would panic and my fingers would turn into fists. I was completely hopeless! But the more times I got into fights, the more relaxed I became and the better able I was to at least defend myself.

STV is like the wild west! There is no other zone apart from Quel'dannis Island that's quite as crazy. Get past it and things settle down again.

By the time I was in the 50s, I would relish PVP. I would quest right next to horde players and if they decided to open up, I'd generally come out the victor.

When I hit 70, I went the PVE route for a while but I epicly failed at that so I decided to do the PVP grind instead and damn! I just love AV

I've so far earned 314,000 honor points! 44,000 more and I'll have nothing left to buy.

Mazmorgul, you have a bunch to buy yet for PVP. You do not have the new Medalion of the Alliance. And you have S3 items and S4 is now out.

I'm a PVP junkie. I love killing horde.

I know there is something almost Freudian about this statement...

Re: I was going to lay down the hurt

I started on a PvP server because my RL friends were there. I didn't know any different at first. I started a pally on advise from a friend & took him to 60. I got ganked quite a bit on the way up- it was made more difficult beacause i knew nothing of how to spec a character. Pallys are healers so i went holy spec all the way to 62 lol. I "found" ret. spec then & man what a difference. Pallys are great explorers as you can get out of NPC trouble quite well. PvP on the other hand can be er- difficult- you can't run "out of range" of them lol. While he was 60 I had my son grind AV-best honor rate for alliance at the time to get his epic weapon-the unstopable force. Yep holy spec with a 2 haned mace lol. I had no idea where to level or how to look up quests etc. A friend in the guild i belong to has just hit 70 on a warrior & has been in about the same situation as I was, though he has received some help from someone who has done that before hehe.

I started my warlock & a mage at the same time & started leveling them a few levels behind my pally. The mage has reached 62. I would level him with a friend as they took a new toon up but i play him so little that he always gets passed by. I have over 100 days played on my warlock. I was ganked & camped untill around 40. I lost more than i won. Mostly because i didn't bother to attack first & i'm still the same today but I win a lot,lot more now

Re: I was going to lay down the hurt

After a night of overly ambitious drinking, I woke up hung over, logged in and found my then 60 T2 geared rogue in Splinter Tree post with about 15 dishonorable kills. I had no recollection of anything that happened heh.

Moral of the story, don't play under the influence of Jaegermeister.

Re: I was going to lay down the hurt

Akasha, that's got to be the best thing going. I only wish that I could go at my wife in PVP I bet it's a blast.

Well I tried my hand at BG's this afternoon as a level 41. I think it went pretty well. Grabbed a few HKs won both rounds, only got smoked when I got too close to the scrum and three or four folks lined up and burned me down.

I think this will have to become a regular weekend thing now. But I'm worried that my oldest may be some kind of serial killer or something. He seems to hate those pixels.

Oh, and my real first PVP was last week, caught a level 37 alli lock taking the midsummer fires from Taren Mill, dotted him up as he took off running, tried to chase him down then I remembered that I just got my mount. By the time I chased him down I just needed one SB to finish him. It was great. Spent the next hour just hoping that an alli would wander by that bonfire

Re: I was going to lay down the hurt

I went to add a post script to my earlier post but can't find the edit button-what am i missing??

When my friend started Grumpy old men he needed sigs so i random started a toon & got a rogue. He sat as a bank toon for quite a while untill i noticed the upsurge in rogues so I started to level him up.

I was in wetlands the other day at level 27 getting him to 30 (he will stay now 'till the 30 mounts come out lol) doing a couple of quests on the dragonmore orcs (raiders) & i saw a UD 31 warlock knocking over the same orcs. I couldn't resist seeing if rogues are as OP as they say.
The warlock had life tapped to about 60% & had his VW on a pair of orcs dotting 'em etc when i stealthed up & hit him. It was mind blowing he was down before I got 2 combinations off! no stuns or anything it took about 4.5 seconds (though it seemed like about 1.5 seconds) & this was a rogue at 27 against a warlock at 31. No wonder they smash us at equal level.
