Armour and Warlocks
Let us say one lock has 2k armour and the other one has 3k. The one with 3k armour will surive vs melee a lot more than the one with 2k armour?
What is the effect? Does it really make big difference? A warrior can reach 20k armour (may be more) with the Brutal set. Yet a Warlock can have like maximum 3.5k or something? I am asking because when you compare for example Merciless and Brutal set, you see that the real big difference in stats is armour rather than resil - spell and crit. So does it really worth getting that 1k extra armour? You can already reach the resil cap with the Merciless set. So after that point, will the Brutal Set help you survive a lot more than someone who wears the Merciless set? Ofc it will give more spell damage so you will be doing more damage but just in terms of survival... You become much more resistant to melee hits just because you have 1k more armour? PS: The amount of armour difference between Merciless set and the Brutal set must be way less than 1k I guess. 1k is just an approximate assumption I used. |

Re: Armour and Warlocks
The difference between S3 and S4 is 86 armour overall:
Vengeful Gladiator's Dreadgear - Item Set - World of Warcraft Brutal Gladiator's Dreadgear - Item Set - World of Warcraft So its almost negligible in terms of surviveability. Most phys dps classes have at least 500-1k armour penetration (if not more, and then another 840 with Executioner up) so the extra armour is more indicative of the stat allocation on the gear based on its level. Yes, I know a couple of rogues who use the WSC and Executioner so that effectively on procs cloth wearers have no armour..its a harsh world out there. |

Re: Armour and Warlocks
Then we can say that you don't need to worry a lot for your gear when you reach resil cap with S2. After that point, what you gain is spell damage only but almost nothing else. Am I right?
PS: Don't get me wrong. I am raiding BT (5/9) and I know how important spell damage is. When I say "only spell damage" I am just talking in terms of survivability. Last edited by Kyolic; July 24, 2008 at 05:25 AM. |

Re: Armour and Warlocks
I'm not convinced that armour should be overlooked as a warlock. I have read on locks stacking armour on purpose, i.e. karazan ring, resolute cape and swapping to a armour weapon (staff) when they see double melee @Glickz - Arena Junkies Forums
In the modeling I've done, every little bit of armour (above zero) helps mitigate physical dps (and the odds are that any given arena team will have a rogue or warrior), so if you can lift armour above the penetration amount, then it helps survivability. Having said this, resilience and stamina (to a point where your healer has time to heal you) are the best survivability stats. Its all a trade off I suppose, but if your role is utility (CC, curses, drain mana, with dps secondary) then perhaps having a decent amount of armour is the way to go, until their healer is OOM; then you could swap damage weapons back to tidy up? |

Re: Armour and Warlocks
I tried a heavy-AC setup for a while, and with the prevalence of armor pen gear it really ends up giving very little benefit for how much spell damage you have to give up for it.
