Ice Lance and Me

Hi togehter,

i've been into arenas more frequently now and to my surprise, mages are giving me a hard time for sure.

First, It's hard to control them (esp. the undead mages) due to their trinket, ice block, counter spell (and Will of the Forsaken) and ice lance spamming interruting my cast...

The ice lance spamming brings up another point: I take tons of damage :( After some research i figured that ice lance does three times the damage (after damage modifiers added) to frozen targets, and did i mention the +50% crit rate? So obviously it is imperative to not get frozen, or get out of the freeze as soon as possible.

I well figure that many have come to understand this a long time ago, hance i would like to ask: What can i do do avoid getting frozen in the first place. I figure getting out can be done with Spell Stone, Trinked and Devour Magic (if i'm lucky). I guess, keeping myself unfrozen will drastically increase my chances to win.

thx and have fun

Save your felhunter's Devour Magic for when they try to freeze you.

Re: Ice Lance and Me

Allgright, i figured what mages can do to freeze you and how to counter it.

1) They can skill so that their chill effects have a chance to freeze you (15%?). Not much you can do but it should not happen too often anyways.

2) Frost nova. Mage spell that freezes everything around him in a 10 yrd radius (will usually have 21 sec CD, however mages also have Cold Snap to reset CDs as needed) --> Stay away from the mage

3) Pet ability. Same as frost nova, but is a ground targeted spell with 35 yrd range (25 sec CD) --> devour first pet freeze and then kill the pet. It is generally a good idea to kill the pet since WoWWiki states it can dish out around 12k damage during the 45 sec lifetime and only has round 4k hp.

Summed up Keep Your Distance from the mage. If caught in the pets freeze just devour it - dot up the pet or banish it.
Not staying away from enemies and calmly letting dots tick whilst avoiding damage myself, I consider one of my biggest mistakes.

have a nice day
