Spell Damage for SL/SL

How much damage do you think is needed for an effective SL/SL build and how much stam/resil/armour is worth sacrificing for it?

The reason for this question is my 2s team fails in outlasting. Druids never seem to go oom or priests just mana-burn my pally healer to uselessness. Also please include if your opinion is for a 27/34 or a 24/37 or w/e.

Re: Spell Damage for SL/SL

I don't think its particularly worth sacrificing surviveability for sheer +damage. Druids are VERY hard to run oom even with Mana Drain/Felhunter on their backs, Priests will just mana-burn your Paladin to death - your +damage isn't going to affect those two scenario's by any significant amount. That said, in either case, I would have said 1100+ damage with Fel Armour seems about average...would have to check to be more accurate.

The armory seems down atm so I can't comment on your gear, but Paladins and Resto Shaman are seemingly not the first choice for PvP healers so I would have to posit the idea that its not so much to do with gear, as class balance in Arena.

What other teams do you have issues with?

Re: Spell Damage for SL/SL

I have about 13k health, 900 SD unbuffed and 450 resil. I'm currently trying builds and just tried a 30/31/0 with 5/5 SM. I have no game time so I can't respec back :(
Warcrafter Profile

The tatic I used last week was pull the DPS out of LoS of the healer when they are lowish on health and have not fresh HoTs on them and fear/hammer the healer and hope to kill the DPS before they can get healed.

The rating I'm currently at is 1550 and I'm confident I can get it higher, went 5-1(hunter/pally had played 11 games) last week and that loss was to a lock/pally team with better gear. So I'm not versing anything special yet.

Re: Spell Damage for SL/SL

At your level of gear, Demonic Knowledge is a larger increase to damage than Shadow Mastery. Additionally, taking SM requires you to drop Demonic Resilience, which is fairly important for playing Warlock/Healer.

I personally don't find it useful to gem for stamina, so if you're going to swap a stat for more spell damage, that's the stat to ditch.

What specific partners for Druids and Priests do you have a hard time with?

Re: Spell Damage for SL/SL

I am the SL/SL spec, and I have come to the conclusion that stamina > spell damage. If my stamina was infinite, and I had 0 +spell damage, I would win every duel, Arena, BG, because I could never die, regardless of if my damage output was poor. If my +spell damage was infinite, I could still die, even if I could one shot everyone. Therefore, I say gem stamina, get a BM trinket, and make stamina your top concern.

Re: Spell Damage for SL/SL

SL/SL is a very efficient spec. itself when it comes to surviving; thus with gear this becomes increasingly apparent. Yet, personally, I have found that focusing on solely survival doesn't help your team mates much in arena unless you can make sure all the enemies are attacking you. Because of this, I chose to spec 27/34 for more damage. I saw a large increase in my kill count in bg's as well as more success in arena. My resilience is at 489, but I use my spellstone instead of my wand which lowers it to 471 (still with such high resilience DoTs and crits do nothing to my health). My Spell damage is at 1071 and I am only in s2/s1 gear; however I plan to increase that amount over time. And my health is at 12k unbuffed which leads to great survivability in itself. So personally I believe once you reach a good amount of resilience and stamina go all out damage.
