The impact of achievements in AV

I always used to bitch about having to defend on my own in AV, solo defending bunkers, solo defending grave yards, solo trying to mess up Vann attempts.

......until the introduction of BG achievements!

Now, instead of trying to backcap solo, I would have 5-6 people constantly trying to backcap with me so that they can fulfill their achievements.

Pre 3.0.2, we have 95% of the alliance rush to RH and try to cap that while leaving our side almost completely naked. Victory depended on whether a) they leave enough defenders in IBT or TP, and b) the defence effort on the Stormpike Bridge. People would get yelled at if they capped Frost Wolf Graveyard because it would "make the game a "turtle" and takes too long". We are supposed to give away graveyards so the game can be speed along. Alliance and horde run pass eachother to go for offence. Not really PvP if you ask me......

Post 3.0.2, because people are trying to actually cap graveyards, cap bunkers, defend bunkers, we are no longer just giving up bunkers and graveyards for free. There is actually people in our half of the map. Horde is also doing the same thing. So now we actually have A LOT of real PvP in the Field of Strife. Teams of 20 people will actually go defend bunkers and take bunkers, instead of the usual 3 to 5 people. Epic battles are being fought every inch of the way. Games have gone from 10-15 mins to 40-45 minutes.

For people who are looking for maximum "Honor/min" efficiency, this is bad of course. But for people who is looking for a real PvP experience and how AV ought to be played, this change is very welcome.

Now of course, after people finish their achievements, will it return to previous state? Hard to say...

P.S. I did get my Alterac Valley All Star Alterac Valley All-Star - Achievement - World of Warcraft completed yesterday, never thought it would be possible..

Re: The impact of achievements in AV

Ok Red, just because it's you and despise my instinct to limit my interaction with gnomes to putts I will share an advice for you to get an easy cheap white dragon mount:

- Go get your AV trinket
- Loot every corpse you see lying around
- Before AV ends port to your base and deliver the blood to your NPC quest giver, the Arch Druid for you, this will give rep with all alliance cities.

I have not tried it because i hate AV and i don't like the mount, but may be interesting for you as you will be working toward mounts and a somewhat exclusive one, looting some silver, pvping in a BG you like and getting honor. If i am right and you buy all the epic and regular mounts this alone will give you 40 mounts, not sure if i am thoug... as i stated, this doesn't catch my eye.

Edit: The friend that thought me this, senpai Naga, says he can get his mount in 1 week farming, not sure if he is right or how much time will he use.

/Gnome putt

It might be a little tricky to know when to use the insignia, but that's about the only difficult part.

Re: The impact of achievements in AV

Hmm..this looks very achievable for a gnome warlock given the lack of mount restrictions.

I think I am going to start working on it.

It does not look too painful. At least not as painful as I collected the 600+ scorpid bloods from killing 2500 scorpids in Silithus for my Orb of the Darkmoon back during pre-BC.....
