Potions/Healthstones and PvP(i.e Dueling)

I posted this on the WoW warlocks forum as well but wanted to get insite from those who don't visit those boards that much.

Last night I was returning to Sepluchar from investigating the Fenris Isle when I got challenged to a duel by a level 14 Tauren warrior. His taunts of incredible power and how he would end my pain of undead finally made me decide to put him in his place.

Knowing his Health was far higher then mine and that I knew he would just ignore my pet anyway I pulled up my imp for a stamina increase and fireshield just to add what little more damage I could. The duel began and I saw him charging in for the attack. I knew speed was the answer here so I threw a Curse of Agony on him and tried to dodge. The curse hit one second before he knocked me senseless. As I recovered from my daze I casted corruption on him and started to cast fear. I had to get him off me or I was through. I finally channeled the fear through his hits and like a little calf he ran away fearing from my power. I casted a shadowbolt and notice I was low on hps. Very low I clicked on my healthstone and was back in the game. By this time he was back to his senses and madder then ever. Noticing that all the damage he has done was nearly healed he got very irrate. He again charged me. But it wasn't enough cause by this time my imp was firing away and I had just hit with an immolate as he was coming back. Between my DoTs, fireshield, and my imp double firing away (I had him on passive until I needed him so he couldn't be taken out right away) he couldn't do more damage then me before he fell before my feet begging for mercy.

Back to reality....

Now my question is this. Right at this time he comes back with a "WTF dude did you use a potion. Thats lame." I told him I used a healtstone which works like a potion. His reply was again thats lame I technically won that. Told him if he felt so then ok. Way I see it you do anything to win the match. He just spouted off how I sucked and that he owned me or something like that. I just ran off and went to report my findings on Fenris Isle. What do you all think is using a potion or healthstone in duels lame and cheap.

I personally think it is lame because it is an instant heal with no chance of interruption....

Fair/Shmair...

If it wasnt agreed to beforehand...you smacked him down the way the loudmouth deserved. Nothing dishonorable in it. If he doesnt like Warlock abilities, maybe he'll watch his mouth before dueling one next time.

Remember he challenged you. Traditionally, the Challenger chose the place for the duel and the Challenged chose the weapons/format.

BTW, there is no such thing as a "fair fight".

What a tool.

As an addendum to ^^...

If you run into a warrior who wants you to duel him w/o your ability to use stones, tell him "No Charge". They're both class "defining" abilities . See how far that argument gets them.

well now i havent had any pvp experince, since i only played open us beta, and stille waiting for europe to open for public ;)

but as i see it , health stone is a "skill" we can use, so yea it is fair to use it, unless it is said beforehand, but then again then the opposite should also have some restritions.

as for heal potions and mana potions its up to the duelists to deside when they begin, but imo everything should be ok, its all a part of the game so why not use it in any way possible.

beside the health stone have a weakness, 2 min cold down, so if he was taht good, he should just have beated you again.

so you won fair and square in my eyes.

All healing that is not a class skill is in my opinion pretty stupid. A paladin or a priest healing himself is of course acceptable, and since creating soulstones is a calss skill I think warlocks should use them freely. It's just like a spell only that it needs a reagent. Potions and buffs created by alchemy however, seems pretty lame to me as it has nothing to do with the specific class. Why should the rich person who can afford potions gain benfits in duels? Makes no sense.
Conclusion: No pots for me and my Imp :bulb:

Bah...I have yet to buy a single potion. There are plenty that just drop. The "rich" person doesnt wash. Your comment on the class skills is dead-on, however.

It still comes down to, if you want to limit abilities...state it clearly before the /d. Otherwise dont cry if you get your arse handed to you.

Just my $.02 and with inflation probably worth much less.

in duels i don't think it's right. in real pvp, i say anything goes. you can bet you'll run into people who think the same so i think you should be prepared. then again, pvp is for survival.
