Re: PvP Warlock vs DK
I just don't bother with tongues on arc mages. Drop CoE/Curse of Agony and try to burn him down. Then again, I'm destro and nether prot > casters. I've actually been having the most trouble with DKs, while mages I can generally burn down with my burst. If you're meta, maybe try parking your FG and using your own charge combined with his for more control over the mage? This is for BG though, in arena I've been getting insta-gibbed by Mirror Image->Barrage->POM Pyro, and killed within a KS/CS by rogues. And then there's BM hunter/Unholy-Frost DK. Not to QQ about warlocks being horrible for arena right now, but I've been spending more time on twinking my hunter than PvPing with my warlock. I haven't been seeing many ret pallies in BG, but the ones I have seen haven't been giving me that much trouble--unless their HoJ comes in when there's a DK or fury warr nearby. Just watch for their bubble and try to take them out with nukes from range combined with FG charge/fear. |

Re: PvP Warlock vs DK
agreed with above. destro seems to take them out just as fast as they can take you out. Shadowfury works nicely to buy some time along with a deathcoil after they deathgrip you. Ive have yet to be completely pwnd by a DK around my level. If they do kill me usually a soulstone rez if its up will catch them offguard and bring you back for a finishing kill....making them the one who has to run from the graveyard...have yet to be beaten by one in ghoul form, but i also know the early to mid level 60 Dks probably dont have any pvp strategy yet. *shadow ward the second you see them |

I admit this might belong more in the QQ forum - but i feel i needed to vent a little. i went to Valiance because there were some Horde gankers - and I focused on a DK. He had around 32K+ hp - but i thought - this will be tough but ok. I have about 22.7k hp and 2300 sp in my pvp spec with 872 resilience. My big mistake was landing on the boat to SW and fighting him there. No room to run, and circle is pretty useless. And on top of that somehow he was at 40K hp during the fight - not sure how - maybe some dks can explain. I'm assuming he had pvp gear on, since i didn't see one crit, and the numbers you'd normally hope to see never came up. So that means that even if you are able to get every fear off, and land every hit - with no crits - that's not a lot of damage against a dk. With their health regen - i'm looking at firing off everything but the kitchen sink and they're back at almost full health in short order. meanwhile - i used vw sac, fel dom another pet, and i'm feeling like I'm toast. Not to even mention the periods when i'm running around like crazy while i'm silenced. I think if he just stood there and let me Imm>Confl>CB>Inc>Inc>Inc for a while, throw in a Shadowfury, use all my fears, throw in a DC - he wouldn't even care. As gear progresses - it feels like the 1v1 is getting much worse. To make this situation much worse - this character has a toon on alliance and he felt the need to immediately taunt me on his alliance toon afterward. I guess if i have a question it's this - disregarding noob horrible DKs - of which there are MANY - can you say that you beat a well geared well played DK? is it possible in close quarters? Re: PvP Warlock vs DK
Remember when fighting Dk's. Demonic Circle - Teleport is valuable to gain distance from a DK. Casting Shadow Resistance is a great way to mitigate damage specifically against unholy specs. When a DK uses Anti-Magic Shell, or the big health return in Blood spec they r basically dps handicapped for the following few seconds while there runes re-generate. This means you can take a couple of hits while you are getting your fears/dots/cast spells off. The point is don't be afriad to eat a blow or two during this period especially if you have shadow resist up. Just my 10 cents worth hopefully some find it useful!

Generally as destro they aren't that big of a threat to me. Using felhunter to dispel the chains / silences on yourself, spell lock + fear combo works great to avoid fear interruption. Keep shadow ward up during the fight to mitigate some of their damage. Save your portal for when he deathgribs you <- very important, or you will be screwed. All the bad DKs will engage the fight with a deathgrib which means you've already won if you had a portal up (which you should). |

![]() I'd add that it isn't just unholy specs that shadow resist is useful against, aside from the abilites, my DK runs a popular blood spec that has 20 points in unholy that grants 20% (if I recall correctly) shadow damage to white swings, my white swings can crit for about 4.5k, so I'd keep it up as much as possible. |
