3.1 Re: I can fix PVP

I don't think res really has anything to do with why melee destroys casters in PvP.

Let's look at the stats both use to increase damage. For the most part, attack power equals spell power. Both do the same thing. However, armor pen does not equal spell pen, and casters dont even have anything that compares to weapon damage. Mix that with the fact that every melee has 400 ways to get and stay in range, while casters, save mages, have only a few ways to get and stay out, most of which have been nerfed to the point of worthlessness.

Problem is, you can't fix that. It's the way the game is designed. All they could do is give us more ways to escape, which would just put melee in the same boat as casters are now.

IMHO, the easiest way to fix this would be to add a "+ X% Stam only in battleground" or something along those lines to cloth PvP gear. That way it would not affect PvE game play. Kind of like the food, drink, etc... that can only be used in BGs.

3.1 Re: I can fix PVP

i am new so i my view is different form those of you that have played for years and have aquired good gear. i know it makes a huge difference; however, my opinion on the PvP imbalance is a little different.

i don't have so much of a problem getting critted (i am used to it) what i hate is seing it comming and not being able to do anything about it. as soon as a DK or Pally target me i know i will be dead soon. i see them comming and i can't run, i can't hide, all i can do is hope i can get in one good fear/death coil. my next 3 seconds of life go snare, stun, squish. or fear (fail because of immunity) stun, squish.

i think the real problem is there are too many stuns and snares and too many classes have immunity to fear (my only chance). i would like to see them either limit the stuns/snares/immunity or give me something reliable (and fast) to avoid it when i see it comming. the death coil cool down is too long and the fear cast is too long (when it works).

another issue i have is with speed. it does not make sense to me that a skinny guy wearing cloth can not out run a lumbering touren wearing 150lbs of plate armor. i should be able to run away from a warrior/pally/DK to create some space and buy some time so i can at least try to fear him off me. different foot speed based on armor sounds like a simple tweek but maybe it is more complicated to programm?

this is a noobs perspective on the problem, take it for what it's worth.

Re: I can fix PVP

Personally i believe the problem with pvp lies in the difference of gear between people. By this i mean that an 800 res lock will easily beat a 100 res DK and vice versa. Resiliance is just a means to gage peoples gear with an added advantage. Rather then change the gear system for players, all blizzard needs to do is add a gear level cap for battlegrounds. This way, players with high end gear will play off against other players with high end gear, and players with low end gear against the same, without the grief of being obliterated by the high end gear players. I cannot say how this would work out for arena, as i have not bothered with arena yet and will not until my gear becomes better, but this system will make battlegrounds fairer for all players and more exciting to play as each side will be more even. The only problem lies in implementing it.

Re: I can fix PVP

I like the posts, some parts I agree with, some not...
Here is part of Blizz problem is some people love to raid, and want that big punch on bosses it makes people happy, hell I see people looking the DPS and crit on trash mobs, resilience is a counter to PVE gear which is designed for big hits which is a big issue, the problem is resilience is not strong enough on the crits and hits...burst damage really ruins the fun of pvp which is the live spontaneous challenge.

Some classes will always tend to get favored on changes, but I have to agree locks have not had any serious attention paid in a long time. Their survival mechanisms long been broke by united whining.

So what would I do with my magic wand for pvp.
1) Strengthen resilience so at a 900 cap = crits would 0/physical damages at 75%
2) Fixing locks; better escape mechanism preferably that matches our lore: instant circle, 15
seconds immune from cc while in cirle
3) Shadowburn would be a spell and not a talent
4) Look at the other classes from a pvp view and fairness, match changes to lore: I would expect
an assassin to be deadly on first strike and hard to see if no one is paying attention...but really
a magic cloak to wipe out all magic? Assassins maybe hard to hit and should be since they are
agile/nimble per lore, but 100 yards sprint that makes Flash a little slow footed? ...really you
know which class drives me nuts....it's not a burst class as much as the damn resto druid in 900
resilence, no one has 30 minutes available to chase a good one down and kill it.
........All classes should have should long survivability at 900 resilience/some escape mechanism/some form of deadly threat that must be addressed... balance at what their roles are especially compared to game lore (hey otherwise we could import our bad *** long dormant CS toons)..............

3.1 Re: I can fix PVP

it seems blizz has listenedd

Resilience: No longer reduces the amount of damage done by damage-over-time spells, but instead reduces the amount of all damage done by players by the same proportion. The other effects of resilience (reducing critical chance, critical damage and mana drain effects) have not changed.

3.2 Re: I can fix PVP

Kinda like how PvP sets were itemized before BC (and in most of BC).

The problem is PvP sets become the go-to for Tanking Druids, due to the massive Armor boost they'd get.

Still, I like the idea, and you've my support. Then again I play Affliction, and I don't want my spec to be a glass cannon by any means. I enjoy kiting and slowly draining my opponent til he drops.

Probably a little off topic but simply regarding pvp fixes, I really wish affliction felt more on the move I'd personally love to see Unstable Affliction (at least) and Haunt become instant casts. I personally think that would not effect pve dps except possibly give us the boost we need on moving fights but I do believe it would offer a lot more tacticle play and flexibility in pvp. We wouldn't be caught napping and interupted on cast times and gimped for seconds at a time. By using curse of exhaustion, clever play and a little luck we could simple kite most melee classes draining as we go.

It would also make chasing that resto druid down a lot easier so he couldnt just dispell your coex n eat 1 dot corruption.

To me thats the difference between dot/nuke. Broader the difference between affliction/destro.
Instant cast/Damage-over-time
Time casting/Instant Damage

Just my 10 cents worth!
