PVP Stats and Gems
I have not PVPed since WOLC came out and thought I would start back doing BGs. Is the order of stats Stamina>Res>Spell Power> Crit? What is the best Meta Gem and head enchant? And what are the preferred Gems? I have the Hatefull Head and Chest, Brutal Gloves and the rest Merciless. Thanks for your help. |

Re: PVP Stats and Gems
IMO Resi > Stam > hit to 5% > spell power > haste > crit You want 800+ resi in full pvp gear, and at least 20k hp. Reason I put crit low, is cos people are running around with high resi which is reducing your crit chance, whereas they can't do anything about haste :P

Re: PVP Stats and Gems
Thanks for the reply. Now is a Meta Gem with stun resist or stun reduction a good idea? |

Re: PVP Stats and Gems
Hmm.. So would my val gear be down graded to savage if hateful and deadly were not attainable? At what point would you sacrifice ultimately better gear for that extra res? Right now I have Deadly hands and legs (lucky arch drops), hateful non-sets and WG head. Robes are t7, shoulders are t7.5. Bracers are also pve. Would down grading to savage since my arena score is too low for hateful or deadly be the move to back? |

Re: PVP Stats and Gems
The hit cap is 6% because of Blood Elves. Also, spell penetration is important. It's more important than pure damage until ~75 at least to counter MotW, 130 for SR Aura and Shadow Prot, and 140 for Mages with Mage Armor up, if I recall correctly. It also functions similar to spell damage once you have negated your target's resistances. The cloak enchant and 2 Stormy Sky Sapphire will get you 75, and the offhand and wand will get you above 100. Resilience (800) > Stam (>20k HP) > Hit (6%) > Spell Pen (75-140) > Spellpower/Haste (up to you) > Crit Some Warlocks like to gem up their Haste as high as possible before worrying about Spellpower. It really depends on your personal playstyle and taste. Haste can definitely help landing Fears. Some people like to gear for lots and lots of Stamina, but doing so will limit your offensive capability. I personally just go for a balance of damage, res, and stamina with multi-colored gems. If you look at my armory I run slightly below 800 resilience, but I have reasonable spell damage at the same time. The biggest problem gearing up for PvP is your survivability. If you don't have ~800 resilience, you need more resilience. If you don't have the 4-piece set bonus, you need the 4-piece set bonus. Savage gear has high levels of resilience and fills up those set slots. It's okay to sacrifice some offensive power when you won't live long enough to enjoy that power. The Deadly items have a decent amount of offensive stats on them, too. I sit at about 50-100 unbuffed spellpower above my 10-man PvE gear when I'm wearing my PvP set with Battlemaster's, and about 20 spellpower lower with Fel Armor up (which doesn't matter in Arenas because Demon Armor is better in most situations). A stun reduction meta is definitely a good idea, since you can dispel most casted CCs off yourself but not physical stuns, but make sure you put Tuskarr's Vitality on your boots for the run speed if you feel like that factors into your play. /cast [modifier:shift, pet:Felhunter] Devour Magic; [pet:Felhunter, target=player] Devour Magic That's mine. Hold down shift to devour them, otherwise defaults to you. |

Re: PVP Stats and Gems
I use these two macros for Arenas: #showtooltip /cast [pet:Felhunter, mod:shift] Spell Lock; [pet:Felhunter, mod:ctrl, target=player] Devour Magic;[pet:Felhunter] Devour Magic; [pet:Felhunter, mod:alt, target=focus] Spell Lock; [pet:Voidwalker] Sacrifice;[pet:Imp] Fire Shield #showtooltip /cast [nomod] Fel Domination /cast [nomod] Summon Felhunter /cast [mod:ctrl] Summon Voidwalker;[mod:shift] Summon Felhunter /cast Soul Link The first one is kind of an all-in-one pet ability button for Affliction. I previously had one for all pets, but it got too long when I added the focus argument. If you have your Imp out, it will buff your target with Fire Shield. If you have your Voidwalker out, it will Sacrifice. If you have your Felhunter out, it will use Devour Magic on your target (I use this for getting CCs off my teammates). If you hold shift, it will Spell Lock your target. If you hold ctrl, it will Devour yourself. If you hold alt, it will Spell Lock your focus target (good against Mages and for silencing healers while training their DPS). The second macro is the summoning macro I use in Arenas. I have a seperate summoning button that I click outside of PvP, but this one I have bound to 6. Pressing it uses Fel Domination and then summons a Felhunter. Holding shift will hard summon a Felhunter. Holding ctrl will hard summon a Voidwalker. The limitation of this is that if you want to Fel Dom a Voidwalker you need to Fel Dom, cancel your Felhunter cast, and then summon the Voidwalker. I rarely find this to be a problem though, as I personally try to avoid using Fel Domination unless I absolutely have to. EDIT: Use Fire Shield in Arenas. It stays after you dismiss the Imp, and the Fire resist helps make us even better against Hunters. |

/cast [nomod] Spell Lock /cast [mod:shift, help, target=mouseover] Devour Magic /cast [mod:shift, help, target=player] Devour Magic Is what I use, no modifier key casts Spell Lock on your current target, holding down the shift key casts devour magic on your mouseover (or if you don't have one, yourself).
