Re: Alright...enough with the DK's
Heh, i agree that they're OP, and that there are more DKs running aroung than fleas on a stray dog. Theyre not very welcome in raids anymore, i've seen LFG messages like "LF 2 DPS, 1 Tank for Naxx10 - No more D*ck Knights!"

Interesting... At level 80, with a good set of PvP gear (800 resilience, 95 spell pen and almost 20k health), I'm to the point where I'll go after DKs on purpose in battlegrounds and Wintergrasp. I use a 60/11/0 affliction build, and have about even odds of taking out any random DK that I come across. - The PvP trinket (2 min cooldown) is great for getting out of Chains of Ice (so is the gnome racial). The cost is currently about 50k honor and is sold in Stormwind (on alliance side). - If I engage first, I can often get Haunt and UA on them before they close range. At which point I can CoEx and Corruption and run away again. That can do a serious amount of damage right off the bat. So it's better to take them headon, then to try and run away. - If they toss up their 6 second AMS, I focus on getting away from them, or using my health stone, or looking for other enemies to toss Corruption on (thus giving me healing via SiLi). - If they're not smart enough to break fear with a trinket or Lichborne, then it's time to DoT and drain while they run around feared. At which point they're probably down to 50% health. At which point I can generally fear them a 2nd time and finish them off, even with their pet beating on me. - On a static defense, I always have my teleport setup, so I can portal back out of deathgrip range. But mostly I just CoEx, and run out of their range again. - Shadow Trance means it's time to turn and give them one in the nose. - I save my fears for bad news. Due to the diminishing returns, opening up with a Fear is the wrong tactic. Get your DoTs on the DK, then fear. So I dunno, I use to hate DKs and felt like I was their chew toy. Now I'm starting to look on them as a real challenge. Especially when you get one that comes at you over and over again, and you can keep beating them into the ground. A well played DK will still ROFL stomp me. So I learn to avoid them during that BG, or else make sure I get the initiative. |

I personally don't see the big issue here. I just started pvping again after taking a year or so off to go raid stuff and i have found dk's to be one of the easier classes to kill once you get the hang of it. I can see see aff's gripe because they are less equipped to deal with some of the anti magic stuff but if you are pvping as destro they should be easy targets. Shadowfuy, fear, imo, conflag, fear, cb, inc and move on to the next victim. |

I have had more success against DKs as destruction pvp spec, but I still think they have too many weapons for a single class/spec. Their pets can be almost as bad as a hunter pet, they hit harder than most hunters, can slow you, deathgrip, silence you (for what feels like forever) and of course their anit-magic shield. Rogues aren't too bad if you can live through their ambush and stay on them till their CoS is over. Pallies are ok too if you can make it past their stuns and their 5 minutes of immunity with their ridiculous bubble. DKs, though, only seem to die if I can burn them down fast and keep them stunned, dazed, slowed or feared for most of the fight. |

Does anyone have a hint how to survive a DK throwing the army of dead on you on a BG? Shadowfury gives me 3 seconds to run away, after they are on me again I teleport, but when they jump to me for the third time i feel defensless. |

Re: Alright...enough with the DK's
I love how Fear has diminishing returns and breaks on a hard sneeze. If we could get some balance on stuns in the same way... and maybe have immunities lower your damage output by the same percentage they negate... then we might see a return to viable tactics. Until then a half awake Rogue, Death Knight or Paladin has a stacked deck against all other classes. Kalium

Re: Alright...enough with the DK's
Army of the Dead is on a 20-minute cooldown. I usually try to simply toss Corruption on as many as possible and mark that down as a lost battle. If we're in a large battle (like AV) and not a 1v1, then I'll start tossing SoC on them along with anything within reach. But 1v1? It's a losing battle - unless you can fear the DK and interrupt their channeling of the spell (it's a 6 sec channel in order to get all of the zombies to appear). |

Nobody talk about shadow ward, their deseases do shadow or frost damage right? The only thing with DK is to survive their burst AND damage mitigation habilities. Don't try to put everything you got at the beginning, try to survive for 20-30 secs (I know it's a long time) but after that they are easier to kill. |

Re: Alright...enough with the DK's
I have to agreed with the OP on the dk's. I have currently a 72dk and my 71 warlock. It was fun to play with the dk for a while but got pretty boring, since it seemed nothing was really challenging. I then went back to my warlock and haven't touched the dk in 4 wks. Also, enen though i got used to the dk class I still find it very difficult to deal with them in world pvp. Example: Last night while questing on my warlock in Borean Tundra one DG'd me and pretty much finished me off in about 6 hits. I am a deep afflic build and managed to get some Dot's up but not enough. Would y'all suggest running a dual spec into destro for this kind of thing? I have tried this a couple of times before but being afflic since level 10 i just never got used to it. |

As affliction, you have to spot them first and attack first. While lvling my warlock (afflic) from 70 to 80, I attack every players regardless of their level or class. If you manage to have your dots up before he can DG you have an edge. If he attack first, they have an edge, and they will probably win. Even at 72 you can kill 80 players, but you have to attck them first. Doing this the chances will be on your side. |
