Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

as destro pvp build at 80 i go after DK's purposly they are just as easy to CC as Pallys. Survive the initial burst and its GG. With about 500 or resilience i survive the initial burst of the average player.

I feel the overal key to warlock pvp is to make the opponent burn there CD's early to open them up for CC

Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

The primary reason to toss up shadow ward is to absorb a DK's death coil, which is their only long-range spell.

3.1 Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

I'm only doing BG, but the thing with with DKs, is that they are one of the hardest class to play.
Yes you can faceroll your keyboard and score some wins, and I experienced moderate success with my own DK (tank geared mind you).
As a warlock, I win more of than I lose in 1v1, most DK are very far from playing perfectly.

But I met a particular one, on my battleground, who killed me about 10 times in a row in different BGs - he would pop magic shield a few milliseconds before an incinerate would land, lichborne right before a fear cast, and so on.
I have no problem to survive his initial burst, but the problem is that it's impossible to kite him AND burst him, and killing him slowly with dots doesn't work well enough because so is he (even with one CB and incinerate here and there). And then the more time passes, the more his runes are up. Some fights are lasting >30 seconds - I'm blowing all my CD (SF, fear, conflag, shadowflame, net, CB, trinket, shadow ward, deathcoil, healthstone, pet silence, ...). The key is that he is self-healing way too much. He is the only one left that deathgrip me on sight.
Also I've meet a couple of DK with high burst, and high self-healing - like getting back 30%-50% of their life in one stroke. Those kill me in like 5 seconds once they are out of CC and in range.

I suspect that if you manage perfectly your attacks, your runes, your ressources and your CDs, DK would be deadly, but most players can't do that. I know that on my DK, I'm just spamming more or less randomly different attacks without even knowing if I have the runes.

3.1 Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

Just a tip, having your fel hunter out helps as well, if you silence a DK, and it lands, -most- of them, who are only there for easy kills, will stand there like they are retarded for a few seconds. If you screw up a DK's rotation when they arn't expecting it, they're .... f'ed.
I always Shadowfury while I'm in the air, stops them from chaining me right after a death grip. Always try to get behind them after the death grip.
1. Pop Shadow Ward, Fear (if you can, spell lock them first, so they can't interupt it, or anti-magic shell avoid it).
2. Distance is your greatest weapon, if you're expecting a death knight to jump you, put up a demonic circle somewhere nearby.
3. Time, if you can force or scare a death knight into using whatever cooldowns he has, in 7 - 10 seconds they're screwed.

whether it's a pally, dk, spriest whatever. I'm going after them. They will face a warlocks wrath. Some advice: Fear is your best friend. It doesnt matter if they have some 50% fear reduction. Use it again, and again, and again... Eventually your DoTs will have ate up your opponent and the warlock comes out the victorious.

Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

If you get away from a dk and his DG is on cd, when he chains of ice you: pop trinket.

If he is unholy or frost this will force him to use his last frostrune for another chain making him unabel to use his hardhitting ability for ~6 sec

or to not slow you and let you kill him

Although in not 1v1 id save the trinket :P

Plus, Howling Blast, Icy Touch, Blood Boil and Gargoyle...(depending on spec of course)...and then they can Death Grip/Chains of Ice to keep you in range for everything else.

But for Shadow Ward purposes; Scourge Strike, Death Coil, Unholy Blight and Plague Strike/Blood Plague all do shadow damage.

Ooooh, hadn't thought about that for countering death grip - I usually just spam teleport as soon as I start flying (defensive) - but a SF would be a nice offensive move. Thanks!

Edit: It looks like I'm the only noob in this thread that can't figure out which radio button goes with 3.1 tag :/

3.1 Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

What ^^ Crescendo said. Do not have a problem with alot of DKs in BG or arena. However, I have fought a couple of DKs with around 30k health that we cannot get down. We can get them to the 10-15k mark and they top their health back up repeatedly. Ashamed to say we got beat 1 vs 2 with my priest nearly out of mana by this DK. A DK of this type coupled with a good tree is a scary thought. They remind me of a SL/SL lock grinding people down until OOM.

Any DKs out there who can give details on this spec and what tactics should be adopted?

I have been running meta for quick wins to boost rating but now switching to affl/destro. I run both specs and swap when we run into a difficult combination. I was destro against this DK but would like to run against him again using affliction.

(Off topic - nerf trees!)

Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

Probably a blood spec, they have pretty powerful self-healing.
