Re: Shadow priest agony
Thanks guys, you stress some major areas about dealing with Shadow Priests that I, as a demo lock, have been wondering about. I consider my self to have a fair chance against any other class but I have for quite sometime considered my-self more or less defenceless against Shadow Priest, So, it seems to come down to timing between CoT, Demo Emp, and Shadow ward. Gonna practice and try to put some of these insights you provided me with into good use. Tab |

One thing I have started doing since the fear super-nerf is once my opponent has blown his or her trinket and I have a 5s fear (assuming they trinket the 10s fear) is to cast Soul Fire. Since Fear is going to break once they take ~2k damage (like 2 dot ticks), might as well break it with 5-10k damage nuke instead ![]() Note: This doesn't work as well with Affliction, since your Soul fire is >5s, but if you can pull it off it's pretty sweet. |

The bane of warlocks is and always has been rogues. Shadow priests are pretty powerful, and since fear ward became baseline they're even more so(against warlocks at least). But they're still fairly squishy, they're really restricted to one school of magic as their holy spells suck so spell lock works really well and warlocks have a pretty good resistance spell for shadow damage aside from everything else. The moral of the story is, if you're the one starting the fight start it on your terms, and if you're starting a fight with a caster, use your felpuppy. |

thanks for all the feedback guys. was probably a mistake trying to take her down as demo. respecced to affliction recently, and macro'd all the felhunters moves to my bar. i ran into a dwarf shadow priest in northrend a couple of levels above me and completely destroyed him. when he used psykick scream (i think it's their fear?) i used Devour magic, which is macro'd to my middle mouse button, and then spell locked, dotted, feared, drain life ect. even though they're resistant to shadow damage i'm kicking out about 10-11k fully dotted, and priests my level don't have that much health. needless to say - dead priest!

Alot of spriests were hanging around BB the other day after the fishing tourney trying to gode us hordies into fights in the water. I was being /laugh'd at fairly steadily and /poke'd but did best to ignore until i got slammed and dotted by one of the spriests below in water who as any noob would started to laugh instead of finish me off (dropped me to about 25% with first hit)...my only response though not the best(the best being nuke the bastard) was Shadow Protection to absorb the dots and /golfclap...i got left alone after that...other then the ganky rogues ROGUES...!!!!!! (shakes fist in air)

Re: Shadow priest agony
curse of tongues is your friend vs casters and your felhunter is a huge pain in their *** but with any pvp, keep your cool and keep your mind, if your button mashing you have already lost. |

My spriest is currently 71 and i usually beat warlocks that that try to open up offensively. Since I open with silence and already have fear ward and shadow resistance up thats usually a bad idea. However priest dots tick slower and demo is actually one of the better options and when you get demon form which i advise taking against Spriests you can mitigate a ton of the damage and if need be beat us down. This is the only spec that I truly have to show respect to. That being said a well used felhound could also be a good counter If I wasnt demo specced definately sick that puppy on us. Also since the tick is slower moveing and dotting or at least staying mobile is good a good Shadow will want desperately to get mindblast and vt off so dont let him or her get their casting time spells off. |

A well geared shadow priest in the right hands is as scary as a rogue. I've witnessed this several times outside of Org where a shadow priest was taking on all-comers. Various classes with deadly and furious gear mixes couldnt get the guys health below 50%. I gave it a shot and managed to take 10% health off the guy i.e. was owned. That was running destruction with felp out - 2000+sp and 750+ resil. |
