3.1 CoE in destro's PVP

Hi fellow warlocks.

Do you use Curse of Elements while playing PVP as destruction? The only alternative is agony and it doesn't seem to be worth it.
If I throw CoE on a player do I still need spell penetration on my gear, or the curse is enough and I can gem for the spell power instead?

CoE in PvP.. never heard of it. I wouldn't unless you are on a 5's with all spell casters. And as far as gemming for spell pen..... I always felt that spell power scales beter in pvp.

CoE is amazing in pvp when you have your succubus out and you want to seduce.
It counters shadow school resistances such as a priest's Shadow Protection, a
mage's Mage Armor etc and makes seduce that much easier to succeed against such an opponent.

If you are able to afford the time use it!
I would rarely make either a first cast in Destruction in a normal encounter.
But if you put CoE on first and not lost 7k health by then you would have a good chance of kicking ***.

I reccomend it!

I have recently started using it instead of my Curse of Agony and I find my spells definately hit much harder..ive also started investing in spell penetration which seems very very nice vs priests

I take it battle by battle. Depending on my CD's too. Ideally, I want it on anyone I'm fighting. However, as much as I want to use it, I have been finding it tough to add in like fireblood said.

Spell penetration definitely matters. A lot of people shoot for at least ~75 spell penetration. A lot of Locks start with the back enchant. There's actually a thread a few down discussing it: How to build up Spell Penetration?

Re: CoE in destro's PVP

I rarely throw up CoE, I usually only throw it on an enemy if he's running away/my CB/Conflag are on CD... I always thought it was one hell of a useful spell for PvP but I usually nuke hard enough not to need it.

Granted I am speaking of BGs here, I've NO arena experience.

Re: CoE in destro's PVP

If I have a spare GCD, I'd be using it for fear/SP if stationary and Curse of Agony/Corruption if moving.

If the Succi weren't so fragile, and her imp Seduce still instant, then i'd probably take a crack at CoE, but seduce/nuke is only viable for duals IMO, any DPS will pwn her in 2 GCDs.

It is useful for banishing felhunters and on the CC target if you have a Mage on your team (so your fear/sheep juggling has more stick), but it's more of a niche IMO.

3.1 Re: CoE in destro's PVP

I personnally think CoE as a warlock it is a must to used in PvP, not all the time but often.
Situation where you should use it
Against Mage: Usually PvP mages have a high magical resistance. Yes they can remove curse, but will they? Not evertimes because it is not a harmfull spell.
Against other warlock: A warlock using a felhunter you can use it to reduce his magical resistance making it easier to banish/fear.
Pally/Priest: Fear is a shadow spell! +they have few other things (bubbles, fear ward, etc...) to counter you fear. I usually don'T have time to afford resist fear.

Situation where you shouldn't used it
******ing rogues, usually I have only time to afford instant cast, mean harder cast fire spell. This make Curse of Agony and corruption my usual only 2 spells I can cast on them.

For a destro lock, all 'DoT an run' situations you shouldn't cast CoE, except in BGs. Casting CoE in BG is not for you, it for everybody else.
