If you're at around 800 resilience and lacking in any spell pen, I'd go with gemming for spell pen rather than resilience. But if you're under 800 resilience, I'd heavily recommend gemming for resilience. The +SP, +Spell Pen gem is best for a dual dps 2's.
Since I am not to even 600 resil yet and do not even have all my gear I have to wait till my gem goes active. As affliction (54/17/0) spec with this gem set, would I even be viable in Arena 2's or should I respec to destro or demon?

I will definitely update my armory as soon as I get all my PvP Gear from BGs, I have bracers, Boots, Belt will happen today and back, and will be oging for neck next. I have Deadly Chest and Hateful Legs, and WG Domination Helm. Still need gloves and Shoulders and should be at 700 resil... Almost there!

It depends on your playstyle. However as affliction you need a bit more resi than destro - you need to outlast your opponents which is very hard with low resi. In arena you will be focused, count with it. Meta spec is not used much because of paladins' CC super vulnerability.

Personally I went with destro with suboptimal gear. I might eventualyl change back once I maxed my resi and sp.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I will have to consider it for 2's then. Destro here we come.

Re: PvP warlock Meta Gems

Tusker's on the boots is a better choice in PvP compared to Icewalker. It allows you to gem the meta slot for options other then increased run speed.

(So you get both faster run speed plus another effect. I prefer shorter stun durations.)

Isn't there a The Burning Crusade meta that reduces stuns by 15%? If so, I'm getting that one.

Chaotic Skyflare> All IMO.

I used the stun reduction one at the start of last season, but have found barely any difference in the time I'm stunned (and when I can react) using the +crit gem.

The +3% damage on crits is game changing. For destro you almost 100-0 people, and since you main burst is on CD's you need it to hit as hard as possible. For affliction you get a lucky chain of dot crits you the amount of pressure your putting out goes way up, not to mention insta sbolts and searing pain crits.

When you are silenced, you can at least run around/portal/los/wand
Stuns for warlocks are deathbells - melee and ranged can both pound on you and you can't do anything except control your pet. I went with +32 stamina and stun reduction. YMMV. Gem requirement is pretty easy to meet if you go with full PvP gear.

^ This. It's the most used Meta for high rated locks in arena (check ArenaJunkies)...and I believe that it is still broken to give +9% damage on crits.

i originally posted this on Redmage's guide, but it's not broken:
I recently found this on arenajunkies, in case you were wondering about the 9% (props to Hosebeast):

Chaotic Skyflare Diamond - Item - World of Warcraft

3% increased critical damage

I think the math works like this..

1.5 x 1.03(meta) = 154.5
54.5 x 2(ruin)= 109

so crits hit for 209% and then I'm not sure how the searing pain glyph would be added. So the meta gives you 9% more damage on criticals.
(also need some confirmation on my math)
