3.1 PvP Stats rating for Warlocks

I am wondering how you guys would rate our Stats for PvP.

Think it would be helpful for new and old players alike to get a bit of a comparison how others rate specific gear.
(Especially if you are not in Arena in the 2K+ ratings and can buy all the best there is. :P )

I'm running (only BGs atm) with a 0/19/52 Spec and so far have used the following rating:

Resilience: 1.8
Stamina: 1.2
Spell Power: 0.9
Haste: 0.81
Crit: 0.17

I don't include Hit and Spell Penetration here but always work to keep them at 6% and 140 respectively.

I was using a higher rating for resilience in the beginning, but kept getting the resilience + attack power trinkets as second best choice. With this set-up the results seem to fit better.

Yeah, 140 Pen, 6% hit, 800+ resilience, then the rest to Spell power and haste/crit.

I'd kinda skip the haste for destro, you'r cast occasions have to be made via range/coil/shadowfury/charm. I tend to kinda ignore haste and keep my crit to 25% (with devastation) and build more my spellpower.

I basically went for resil>sp>stamina...ill add spell penetration(only 35 right now on cloak) as i continue to upgrade gear. I got 800 resil, 2059 sp(with fel armor) and around 22k hp. I think haste and crit are the least important for pvp.

I just respecced from affliction to destro for pvp. Is sp>crit for destro pvp? Any "cap" or goal for crit?

Before I had started spending my honor points, I did briefly look the gear of top destro warlocks on:
World of Warcraft Arena Ranking | SK Gaming

Here are some observations:

- +crit PvP pieces (over the +haste pieces) are almost always used.
(crit is useful in PvP for the same reason defense is useful for tanks in PvE - an exceptional RNG and that's the end --- as a result, resilience is important).

- they mostly don't gem for crit.
. The most usual gemming is offensive+defensive
(like the gem 9 spell power + 8 resilience). Spell power + something can't be wrong ^^
. some of them have more offensive gems (like jewelcraft +32 SP)
. a few have a majority of defensive gems
(like the gem 8 resilience + 12 stamina)

- typical total resilence is 800 (range 600-950)

- typical hit is around 130 (but having 100% chance to hit rather than 95% is not very useful if you are not well geared already, and die all the time)

- typical spell penetration is around 130 - but note that much of this comes from cloack enchant + arena weapons (wand and offhand) ; several lower rated warlocks (#300 ...) have 0 spell penetration.

- enchants:
. must have: Inscription of Dominance, Arcanum of Dominance and Sapphire Spellthread
. the rest is spell power in majority safe for one or two enchants

* Trying to find non-honor gear for PvP is an headache ; I guess the most useful would be the tailoring blues. I don't know if it is more useful to gem/enchant defensively if half of your gear is still PvE for instance.

Re: PvP Stats rating for Warlocks

Thanks for the post. I have noticed that crit is valued way more than haste too. Makes sense since res is so high now.

I have also noticed that a few destro locks are putting 3points into suppression I assume for the hit points. All of the gladiator gear is spell/crit/res so I am guessing its hard to get the 100% hit rating with out suppression. I read that 6% is the hit cap for pvp, and I am at 4.8%. I am going to try and follow their lead and see what happens.

As a scribe I get some really great shoulder enchants. I have the 61sp 15crit one on.. that makes me loose 15 res from not useing the dominance one. The additional 40sp has got to be worth it though.

One thing that I notice and really irks me is that all the higher level arena locks have arena weapons.. most have deadly weapons, but that additional spell pen must really come in handy. Why would bliz take away deadly weapons instead of making them purchasable as an older seasons gear? The weapons and wand are likely to make a huge differnce.

I hope that in season 7 they let season 6 weapons be purchasable.

Ha, I didn't think of these, nice way to use the talents. Also the titan-forged PvP gear has versions with hit, and Battlemaster's Accuracy has +95 hit

Certainly.

I guess they want to encourage arena participation, and provide items that casuals cannot get. It's not fun if people played hundreds of games in arena to get proper rating to get the weapons and next season you can get them for a few BGs.
As for spell penetration, notice that CoE is generally sufficient to cancel resistances, and that chaos bolt ignores any resistance. I've read in other threads several people go to 75 spell pen (enchant + 2 gems), in order to negate much of druid buff, paladin auras, shaman totems.

Re: PvP Stats rating for Warlocks

So in arena, as a newly born destro (formally affliction) lock, is CoE the curse of choice then? I am still inclined to throw up Curse of Agony just for the damage since Destro has so much casting to do sometimes the coe feels like its not worth it.

Regarding weapons, they should have made the deadly weapons worth 1500rating (since we start at 0 now), honor and points. Keep it on par with the deadly set pieces. Honestly I think those three pieces, spellblade, off hand and wand, would make a world of difference. As it is I am stuck using the staff of restraint from OS. Sure I could get better if I had the time to raid, but really I just dont have that time. Arena at least I can do somewhat on my own time, provided my partner is available.

Yes one HUGE incentive to doing arena is gear. I admit it. I like pvp a LOT, and BG gear doesn't cut it. But now I have no way to get better weapons that are made for pvp with out an 1850rating and things just haven't been working out lately.

Honestly thinking of trying to get into a 5s group. Seems we are better in those than 2s.
