Ok im mad, im really really angry. im not a bad player, im pretty sure of it, but, what am I supposed to do against mages. since Wrath of the Lich King i cant kill mages, ever, in duels, ok, im bgs some times i kill a couple of but, against 1x1 i have my butt kicked every time. well. im Destro atm, check my char info for spec. my gear isnt bad, almost 600res. working on it but, res is not the main prob. IMO. 1st, i cant see they casting, i've done a bunch of duels against a mage just now and he baraly stop to cast, 2nd, im always slow/silenced , frost mages look like aff locks that kite me. so please, before i hit the Delete button on that warlock that's just tired of being killed by almost every rogue/dk/pally and now, MAGES.

If they use mirror image: As affliction I just dot them all up and UA and Haunt on the main mage and drain life. SOme use drain soul, and I do at times, but if I am trying to stay alive drain life works great. As destro.. I just respecced so I forget the name, but the 3sec stun works wonders. Since the mages all pretty much form within the aoe range its great. All of them stunned and then I blast away at the main and dot away and then 3sec stun again if I can. Don't forget to use your HS and pots (if out of arena), they help a lot!! I usually use felpup.. which is great against a mage, but now with the VW shield that could help a lot in this situation. Frost mages with iceblock really don't bother me as movement speed doesn't mean much if I am in range. Usually I can get a few dots up on them before they are out of range anyway. As destro though still, the 3sec stun is your best friend I think. Then blast away and stun again if needed. there's no preset rotation against mages, cose it's all about countering what they do. If you're destro pvp, there's no way a similar geared mage will beat you 1-1. You have too many things to counter him. Fear, death coil, shadowfury, nether protection, void bubble or felpuppy spell lock, soul link, dots, chaos bolt agains mana shield, drain life, conflagrate, health stone. Also use searing pain. It's fast and has no travel time. If you're affli pvp, it more about slowly burning them down. You should still have soul-link and felpuppy out, and some nice heals as well. |

as destro you can try this if you have felpuppy(works for me): shadowfury>immolate>chaos bolt>conflagrate and then finish him/she. just use spell lock just when stun breaks  let me know if there is something wrong with this.

I agree with the above comments. Being affliction myself, i tend to dot him up then fear, using my spell lock on his casts where possible. There is a decent tactic i have not tried myself, but is awesome. It's all about faking casts so you waste his counter spell. Once it's wasted, you can then nuke because of the cooldown (30secs). Problem is with destruction you have less tormenting dot power, you have to nuke them fast. Curse of tongues is my best strength as a an afflock with UA, messes them up completely, then i fear, and SB/haunt to death. |

I checkes your armory and you have 0 penetration. With mage armor up, you will do less damage -> less pressure on him -> you lose. I lost against 2 frost mage in a 2v2 arena (with a disc priest), they dispell CoE and then my spells do less damage. Rogues are a problem only on 1v1 in PvE gear. In PvP gear, they hit for less and if you may survive. Every class should have his counter, rogue are our. For DK it's the same thing. If you know his spec it's perfect, like blood I always wait the larvas to do shadowfury to kill them. Always pop your shadow ward and wait for the death grip to deathcoil. Wait for the green shield for Chaos bolt. It's funny when I crit through his shield with CB. For Pally, patience my friend and stack stam. With pally I must use my Healtstone and bandages. Only trinquets his repentance. They usually do it to wait for cooldown and try to dispell yourself. Usually after a rotation (immolate -> CB -> Conflagrate -> shadowburn) they play defensive -> you win! |

Hm ok thank you for the posts, i'll try do some duels or find some mages to gank, main problem as detro is that i need to stop to cast and, the mage i dueled was always far away so shadowflame wasnt able to reach him, but it seems i need to practice agains those damn mages. i'll post here as soon i have more news. ty and continue to post, (i searched for Warlock movies on Warcraftmovies.com as i always do but it seems that theres no 3.1 video from destro or something similar)

If you are dueling. One of the best places for a horde lock is in front of org. Cause there are several large object where you can place your Teleport making you dissapear out of their range and LoS and giving you time to catch them by surprise.

(Good Mages will decurse anyway but it's a GCD he has to waste ;)) Mirror Image is a bitch, use Shadowfury to stun all Mages at once, then Howl of Terror, that will chase them off so you can focus on the real Mage again. You really should win this. If you have a Felpup out use your self devour macro to try to eat Deep Freeze. Just watch out for Counterspell. A well placed Counterspell will lose the match for you.
