I recently started doing PvP now that I've specced back to destruction for raiding, and spent the weekend getting to know SotA. I ran the entire weekend as 0.13.58 PvE replenish spec, and had surprisingly good results. However, I know exactly how much PvP utility I'm missing out on in the Destro tree, and I've decided to dual spec my 'lock. The spec I am currently looking at is 13.4.54, with improved fear and improved searing pain. I tailored this build more to my playstyle, which is about control over survivability. I run with a felhunter and use CC and interrupts to hold healers while burning through whatever needs to die. This is purely a BG spec at this point, as my random 5s arena team is currently 1-9. I'm running 481 resilience and about 20k unbuffed HP. Spec linked here. Where I feel like I am falling flat is glyphs. I live and die by crits it seems, so anything boosting conflag is a must. I left on the conflag glyph because I don't find myself using conflag as a closer, but a spell I have to cast on the move. Leaving immolate up for a second conflag, or just as a DoT on a fleeing target feels like a good idea. Searing pain is my primary nuke, so I have that glyphed and specced for additional crit. Short cast time, no travel time, and 30% additional crit seems like it's far too good to pass up. My last glyph, and the one that admittedly feels weakest, is Immolate. Partly this is a holdover from PvE, but it's also the only glyph that double-dips, boosting both my Immolate and Conflag damage. However, I'm not sure it stacks up against the other options that are out there, like Chaos Bolt, Shadowflame, or Fear. SO! What are people currently running now that destruction is back to being a true burst spec? What glyph/talent choices are you making? How is this affecting your playstyle? I tend to do very well on rankings in BGs even with the PvE spec I was running, so I'm very curious to see what people who regularly PvP are doing.

Re: 3.1.2 Destro PvP Glyphs
I found that the the shadowburn glyph can be a nice addition to a pvp lock. The increased crit chance makes for a nice finisher when your other skills fail to kill the opposite player. Judging by my own chars stats and spec, it crits for about 4.5 k for me. Which is not bad at all. This is the only thing I can think of right now, but if something pops up, I will be sure to let you know.

I;m torn on glyphs as well, I'm running conflag as i like imo tick and i can get two conflags off usually 1v1. Shadowburn is a must and as soon as my server AH has one i'm there, for the last one i'm not sure? |

Re: 3.1.2 Destro PvP Glyphs
I've not personally used the fear glyph but it seems kind of retarded to me as hardly any damage breaks a fear as it is... I use Conflag Soul Link and Shadowflame... but seeing as you don't have Soul Link, and since you're using SP a lot I would glyph Conflag Searing Pain and Shadowflame, though the last one is debatable for BGs... I can't live without my shadowflame glyph(70% slow for kiting, plus the buff that they're giving to the spell = pure win) then again that's mostly for arena. If you're not comfortable with the Shadowflame glyph there's quite a few others out there, it's just always been what I favored. |
