I'm preparing to get into 2v2 arena in the near future with a mage and so I've been reading as much as possible. Torment on Arena Junkies has a blog about warlock/mage team & strategies. Basically the strengths of the mage/lock team are huge burst & very good CC. He seems to run a strategy of CC'ing any healers & burning down their dps. He uses a Succy mostly for Seduce & of course the mage has Sheep and Deep Freeze. I don't have any personal experience here, just passing on this valuable blog from a successful warlock/mage team. Their specs are destro lock & frost mage. Link is here: Frost Mage/Destruction Warlock Strategy - Arena Junkies

I had the same experience as you when i first started arenas. I get smashed by dks and rogues almost every game. But once you start farming for some quality pvp gear your survivability goes up and you'll be doing some massive damage to your opponent. And of course it also depends on your partner. Also, try to play with other classes to learn the different people's playing styles/techniques. Shadowfury and fear are your best friends. Happy nuking!!!

Shadowflame glyph is awesome! Just remember to put your circle down at the beginning of the match. If any melee get close to you just flame and teleport. It's a sure melee zerg!
