Ok, so I was playing on the Nightfall battlegroup for many months. My favorite thing is to do non-level cap PVP battlegrounds, so this is where the bulk of my experience comes from. I played mostly as Horde, but after months of generally walking all over the alliance, I got bored. (I think I had about an 80% win rate and this didn't factor in games where there just wasn't enough Horde showing up). So I decided I would level up my alliance Priest, stop at 79, buy the best gear possible (All frostsavage with enchants). And be a good discipline healer. Aside from my Priest frustrations (another topic for another day), I just can't understand what alliance is ever thinking. 1) 90% of the players at the 70-79 level range were not 79 and many were level 70-73. I don't know how you can expect to compete. Although, it does make less of a difference than say a level 20 vs a 29, a level 70 in Outland gear can not compete against a level 79 with any kind of decent gear. 2) In addition, so many players did not understand basic strategy, by far the most common strategy was to a) everyone stays inside the WSG flag room indefinitely and b) everyone stays at one resource node in AB. So here's my list of Alliance battleground terminology. 1) "An Alliance drive-by". When you open in Arathi Basin and nobody bothers to take the stables resource node. 2) an Alliance Master Plan Going one at a time off the hill in WSG just to get farmed or Zerging a well defended flag room or resource node 1 at a time. 3) an alliance Cadet A level "0" of that level range, For example a level 20 player in the 20-29 level range. 4) An Alliance Sergeant level 1-8 in the level range 5) An Alliance Miracle. A level "9" player who comes in to a Battlegroup fully geared, specced and prpared to do battle. This is so rare, rarer then rocking horse droppings. Also called an "Alliance Blue Moon" 6) An Alliance Salute When you are fighting for your life in a 2 on 1 situation or just generally getting ganged up on and an Alliance player rides right along past you without helping out. 7) An Alliance Battle-cry An unjustifiable QQ. Usually goes along the lines of something like "Rogues are so overpowered nerf them", meanwhile it's a level 21 against a 29 twink rogue. 8) An Alliance Victory Cheer Unjustifable victory cheer that only seems to happen when it's like 2 to 1 Alliance-Horde showing up. |

Re: Alliance terminology
lol to be honest dude I see examples of all those behaviors in horde players. I would say that the alliance usually exhibits them more frequently but the vaunted horde is not immune to the smacktard virus.

Admittedly I haven't done any battlegrounds since pre-Wrath of the Lich King, but all of this was pretty standard from what I remember. Every once in a while you'd get a good group that would have some sort of a plan and dominate WSG for about an hour, then they'd all log off and it would be back to the classic run and die one at a time from the spawn point. I would definitely say #2 is the biggest alliance weakness on my server. If I was at all serious about PVP, on my realm at least, I would roll a horde character. The question I always have is why? On Kael'Thas it's only 1.5/1 alliance/horde, so it's not like there's that many more alliance n00bs. I've often even heard one or two people voice some kind of strategy at the beginning of the match while we're waiting for the BG to start, but they always get ignored. completely unrelated, but someone actually took the time to set a rule to change W o t L K to Wrath of the Lich King? haha |
