Non-twink here...so stop giving me that look! ![]() Anyway,I have 3 points in suppression, and I have no problem with my spells hitting humonoids etc... but while I was doing a WSG the other day,and even though with those points in suppresion,I was inspired to ask a question about my possibly raising my hit % even higher ,cause I had a hunters pets on me and I attempted to fear'em off of me 3 straight times...resist...resist...resist...like"Daaang! I know fear has been nerf to high heaven,but...Daaaaang!" I sat there for like ever, trying to get that frackin tiger off my heels! is there any way thats known for me to get my hit % up even just a bit at such an low level? Thanks ~S~ ![]() p.s I also have all of the PVP gear that you can have at that level. |

I can't remember the exact name or what level talent it comes in at but a Beast Master hunter's pet can be immune to fear. Sounds to me that that is what you came up against. |

Resists, misses, dodges, blocks, and parries are all completely separate game mechanics. Hit rating has no effect whatsoever on resists. |

Re: I'm I hit capped at 29
Hit rating is pve not pvp. |

Incorrect, hit overcomes talented 'reduces chance to be hit' effects. Equal level also has a chance to miss, about 3 or 4% base if I recall which hit is used to overcome. Resists of that magnitude may mean that the pet had shadow resist from talents? Not sure on pet talent trees, but if that is so spell penetration would be needed to overcome that. |

Re: I'm I hit capped at 29
Hit rating stops misses not resists those were separated not to long ago in a patch. Now you will know if you need hit rating if it says Miss but if it says resist you need to pick up spell penetration or toss a CoE on them to lower their res (if you even get that at your level can't remember). |

[QUOTE=Ugru;269487]Resists, misses, dodges, blocks, and parries are all completely separate game mechanics. Hit rating has no effect whatsoever on resists. Even Misses?....you mean if i Miss someone ,my hit rating has nothing to do with that? wow! I'm sorry,I know I'm just a young level 29 Lock here, but this is wrong.I've re-spec-ed several times (up to 40 G. a pop already) experimenting around to see which spec. seems more effective for me,and I've definitely noticed a difference In how often I hit/miss a player/pet with 3 points In Suppression rather than just 1 point. I did an experiment where I put just one point In Suppression, and left the other 2 points on stand by,and went and did a BG,and after 5 minutes of noticing how often I was missing, during that same BG,I put the 2nd point in,and took note on, that even though I was still missing a bit ,it was less than with just one point, and after the 3rd point...even lesser still, yes I still do miss on occasion even with 3 points in,but its a less than with just one or two. So Spell Penetration is the key huh...Interesting ![]() and CoE I don't get at 29,but its good to know for when I hit 39 ![]() P.S Now that I think of it,If actually spec'd just Affliction ,I think I could reach it. Thanks. Last edited by Siphön; July 06, 2009 at 07:10 PM.. |

Your misses are directly related to your Hit rating. |

UPDATE! ![]() I wanted to give the den an update cause i think I've may have found an answer to my problem wit Hunter's pets, and this will be good for those who are also just starting to BG wit a lock ... someone earlier mentioned "spell penetration" was key(i want to thank Peligro ),and so while buying some potions from the BG vendor in Arathi Hieghts,I noticed that there was another trinket avalible to buy..."Rune Of Perfection" which has 10 SP penetration, this along with 3 PTs in Suppresion, has made it alot easier to get those pesky pets off of me ,in the five days I've had it,and BG'in several hours per day,I've only once had to attempt a fear twice in order to get a pet off of me. GoodStuff!
