I am destro specced and use the regular tools for pvp against shammys.

shadowfury
fear/deathcoil
immo
conflag
incinerate( backlash procced by wolves)

specifically i am interested in the spirit wolves that come out and chew my back for 40 plus seconds. and ofcourse the worst part is the spellcast being interrupted. Interestingly, I do not have too much of an issue with hunter pets.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated. oh, btw i use VW for the shield.

Thanks

Re: shaman wolves

I also got this problem against mele shammys.

I am trying to run towards the shammy so I get all 3 stunned (shammy 2x pets) and then using howl.
Since there aint no damage on the wolfes they run for the whole cc.
But generally, enhance eat me up like nothing from start if I cant get some cc going.

First. have a totem stomping macro that will destroy all their totems, mainly the tremor totem. You have to spam that macro to beat shamans. Start with a voidwalker to get the8k health sacrafice. What you need to do is:

1. Always spam the totem stomping macro
2. Fight right next to him, and when he summons his wolves, instantly shadowfury follow by a howl of terror, and keep in mind that your spamming your totem stomper to get rid of that tremor totem.
3. Now him and his wolves are feared, he will probably trinket out of it, but his wolves are still feared.
4. Start with an immolate, followed by a death coil, while hes in death coil cast chaosbolt and instantly conflag and shadowburn his *** to victory

That is the basic stragety i do to own them.

totem stomping macro.

i cannot say how beneficial this has been for me. i used to have so much trouble with them, but now you just click away off the gcd on your macro and bye bye totems.

if you can get his tremor down and get a fear off, you have a very good chance.

Sadly enough I think Blizz is gonna get rid of the totem stomping-macro in 3.2. At least I think I read so over at Wow.com. Anyone else who knows for certain?

Re: shaman wolves

Yeah, blizz is planning to make totems untargetable via macros. This intention is very clear so expect totem stomping to disappear.

E.g. /target annoying totem of shaman
/petattack
This will no longer work and is very sad for pet classes.

Expectation is that you have to click target or tab target the correct totem and then get the pet to attack. EXTREMELY difficult to do fast and without error with the current UI. Destroying a totem will be very rare I suspect.

Ah memories of the Isle dailies (late The Burning Crusade), and forgetting to deactivate my totem stomping macro. My FG would run off to stomp some poor ally shaman's totem who was doing dailies. =p

3.1 Re: shaman wolves

Macros and scripts will no longer be able to target totems by name.

from PTR notes

re the wolves, given the right CDs ( ie hero etc ) it's basically an IWIN button. having said that the best way to beat a shammy is to stun them since we really don't have anything to get out of stuns

who do you pvp with? As far as I know only stuns a destro has is shadowfury...

Yeah, then I was remember it correctly. Sad for us, but I guess all shamans are jumping up and down in pure PvP-joy.

If you've picked up Aftermath Conflagrate "dazes" for 5 seconds.

Re: shaman wolves

that works too i guess

i'm not privy to warlock arena play these days. raiding is my primary joys with pvp on the side on my space goat ( shammy )
