So how is it holding up? I had not read up on it so I was a little confused when I entered because I didnt know what to expect. Can anyone throw out some pointers. I got the basic idea of how it works now but because we are all pretty new to this BG and I think it would be very beneficial for all of us if we share what has been working for us so far. Unfortunately I have nothing to share thus far. Another thing...How the hell are there already "Experts" yelling out there lame *** orders and insulting everyone that does not listen to them. Are not we all fairly new to it? ...and I don't care if you have played it dozens of times on a test realm...nobody died and made God so until we all get a feel for it shut up! If your the guy yelling at me and insulting me in order to provoke me into running to the docks instead of the hanger then I simply want you to get into a car accident! Sorry for the rant...I just hate being called out in game by some guy for doing something against HIS will. I was even part of a group...why pick on me? Sadly I was not the only one picked on either...from there more names were called out and insulted and then the smack talking started and we ended up getting stomped! Re: Isle of Conquest
LOL I totally agree. How are people experts yet? I mean maybe some played a lot of times on the ptr, but its very normal for most of us to be new to this. I sort of read up on it a little, but nothing major at all. I saw that Hordes base was on top of the map, which was a nice change as we are always on the bottom. It did throw me off a bit though Still I highly doubt that the majority of people read up on it. BGs are more for casual players after all. I realize some are hard core BG players but for the most part BGs are something we can do at our own pace/schedule and we do for fun. So while so may be all gungho I doubt the majority would care to research things. As for my take on this AWESOME BG, I think defense is extremely important. What I mean is defense at posts. Too many people zerg from one area to the next, capping flags and moving on because no enemies are approaching. They leave. Then it gets capped by the enemy. /facepalm With the huge increase in honor you from defending now I would think more people would be willing to defend, but I guess people go where the action is no matter what. Next I think its very important to have the airship. If everyone was gunning while other swere dropping in it could be very good. Instead i see most just gunning one or two times and jumping. Instead if some stuck to gunning the entire time while others jumped I think it would be more beneficial. Some things I think need changing are the amount of resources. Perhaps an increase maybe. The reason I say this is most of the time the game is over before the enemies "boss" (i don't know their names yet) are down. I have only done four runs so far so I can't really say if thats the norm or not but in all 4 of my battles thats how it went. Only 1 time were the gates even down. Again though I only did this 4 times so I am pretty clueless too. I would love to hear other POVs. I am really enjoying the patch.. way more than the last, but I think its because I am able to enjoy the content more. The BG being my most fun, but unfortunately the last on the priority list for now. I do dailies for seals and gold, and did a few Heroics, including the new one, for emblems. I can get gear from those Emblems that are upgrades so yeah.. I am all for that. I can't get anything from honor or BG marks yet so unfortunately its been a filler only. Anyone else been giving this a go? Thoughts? |

I attempted this once last night, along with the new WG rules. We won by killing the Alliance Leaders, I think we still had around 100 resources left for both the Horde and Alliance when we did it. The battle went on for quite a while too. At first, most of the raid ran up to the hanger, with a few smaller groups spreading out to the other locations. There was a massive battle at the hanger, a massive lag spike that resulted in me dotting up one single mage and suddenly being surrounded by 20 Alliance players almost at once. Needless to say I died. I went back to that spot and fought the lag, managed to kill a good number of Alliance that time. Then I proceeded to some of the other areas to see how things went. The factory in the middle is good for getting vehicles and charging the enemies gates, however Nearly every vehicle I saw was destroyed by the time it got to the gate. I loved being able to ride on the vehicles and still being able to cast. By the time the vehicle was destroyed and i was under attack, I had around 10 corruption/Siphon Lifes ticking away to heal me. I wasn't easy to bring down. I was only able to drop one seaforium charge, most of the time I died first or people defused them on me. I spent a little time defending the Ships, and killed off one or two allies that were there before my friend charged off, so I followed. The airship was cool. I was gunning for a while, but I couldn't really tell if i was doing any damage. I didn't see any damage numbers float up or anything. I was gunning for the Alliance players which I hope is correct because otherwise I have no clue what to shoot at. I read that we could parachute in off the airship, and was a little nervous to try. The first time i got on the airship I lagged and ran off of it and fell to my death, but I wanted to give it another shot so I SS'd myself and lept off again. It was awesome because you automatically parachute down into the Keep. Perhaps you can only chute down over the keep? I landed ran in with all the other horde players (we had the gate down by now) and got pwned by the Alliance boss. Thankfully I was SS'd. I popped up and got pwned 10 seconds later. Thats when I discovered you rez right there next to the keep. WOOT. The Vehicles, They seemed to be destroyed very easily. Maybe it was me, but as I said earlier, most never made it to the gates and those that did only stayed up for a few seconds. I piloted one of the Elven vehicles, The one that was gold with wings. It has a long range attack, but a very small area of effect when your shot lands. As a result, I didn't know if I hit anything with it. It also has a close range attack that you can't be moving to use. Again, i had no clue if it was effective. Over all, it was a lot of fun. I'd still like to know strategically what I should be doing. I think I had over 100 HK's that fight and we won, but I really don't know if I did the most optimal fighting in there.

I've played a dozen or so rounds. It's not being called "Isle of Hangar" for nothing. My observations: - Vehicles move too fast. This makes it impossible for infantry to stop them. It also makes vehicles a bit too overpowered. - The bosses don't have anywhere near enough health. They're only level 81 with 800k, with non-elite guards. They need to be boosted up to 83 with a few million health along with making the guards level 81-82 elites. It's too easy right now to take them down, so once the gate opens, the BG is over. - Most rounds were over in under 10 minutes due to using the Hangar zerg tactic where everyone just parachutes into the opposing keep. I was only in a single round where it went for more then 10 minutes due to the initial zerg failing (we lasted for 24 minutes). - They need to add in two more resource nodes in the empty corners of the map (NE and SW). Make them like the mines in AV that simple grant reinforcements. Or put things there that, when destroyed, make the enemy boss weaker. It's just weird to see two empty areas. - Honor earned in the BG seemed low compared to Strand of the Ancients. |

Re: Isle of Conquest
I am a bit jealous that you guys even saw the bosses:( When in the airship at first the best thing to hit is the gates. If you down the gates your infantry can then make their way to the boss. I found it clever to stay in the guys and shoot at the players randomly in the middle of the field as they were preventing our men from killing their boss. I like Xavron's idea of adding in mines to help prolong it, but I have a feeling blizzard is trying to avoid longer bgs. The WSG and AB changes seem to indicate that, but I would be all for it. Then again I am for shorter AVs now.. maybe in time IoC will become like that so they are cutting it off before it starts. I don't know. Either way I am loving this and can't wait to get better at it.. and all Horde in general so we can start winning some

Ok, taken from the WoWwiki... A quick summary. Isle of Conquest - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft The Refinery Located on the northwestern end of the island, this smudge in the Frozen Sea produces enough black gold to run a thousand siege engines. The faction that possesses the refinery is rewarded with bonus honor, additional reinforcements, and a +15% bonus to siege damage. The Quarry This snow-covered assembly, located on the southeastern end of the island, hides untapped supplies that must be harvested. The faction that possesses the quarry is rewarded with bonus honor, reinforcements and a +15% bonus to siege damage. The Docks The faction that possesses the docks is provided with several Glaive Throwers and Catapults that can be used to attack the opposing faction's keep. The Hangar The Hangar's capture flag is near the north end of the bluff. To gain access to the airships, the controlling faction has access to several teleporters on the perimeter of the hangar itself as well as one near the capture flag. Once onboard the airship, players will find it comes equipped with parachutes enabling a strike team to drop into the enemy keep from above. The Workshop Situated right between the Alliance base and the Horde base, this siege workshop occupies a strategic hot spot. The faction that possesses the refinery is granted access to siege weapons that can be used to attack the enemy's keep. The Keeps The Horde and Alliance keeps sit at opposite ends of the island. These citadels host six easily accessible defensive cannons set on the ramparts, capable of unleashing hot fury onto oncoming attackers. Additional explosives sit safely stowed in the base of the keep along the back wall. At least, they're safe as long as they don't fall into enemy hands. If they do, though, they can be employed to bring the stone walls down from within. The General Holed up behind the keeps' massive walls, the generals command their forces from a position of relative safety. Should the keep fall and the general be slain, the Isle of Conquest will fall to the victor. Reinforcements Isle of Conquest uses a reinforcements system similar to that of Alterac Valley. The clock is ticking and every individual counts. If too many of your comrades fall to the enemy the battle will end in defeat. Killing enemy players will reduce their reinforcements by one for each kill, Once your faction's reinforcements reach their limit, so too does your bid for control of the island and the wealth of resources you've fought so hard over.

I've tried it a few times..... I think blizzard had a good idea, but it is WAY too easy to win. This is all it takes (I'm alliance) Run out the front gate, turn right and run up to the hangar. Kill horde until you convert the flag. Port up to the zeplin. Bomb the horde gate until you are close enough to jump and paracute in. Pick up bombs and finish off the gate. Kill the horde Boss. Profit. It takes like 5 minutes and you only get like 500 honor. |

Re: Isle of Conquest
My reasoning for beefing up the bosses is mostly because once folks get into IL/230-IL/250 gear, paladins and other plate folks are probably going to be able to solo the boss and the adds. At least in AV, the tank still needs a healer and DPS in order to down the boss. It would also slow down the zerg method where everything is over within 5 minutes. While I don't want a 45 minute turtle like AV usually turns into (and that's mostly because it's extremely linear with lots of choke points), a 5 minute BG feels cheap and tawdry. |

100 honor per minute is actually really good. If you ran it 9 times (to get to 45 minutes, similar to some of the longer WSG, AV matches...) you would get 4500 honor, rather than 800-1200 in a similar length WSG/AV.
