I leveled my lock up right after BC came out. I dealt with a daily dose of getting ripped to shreds by alot of different classes and just came to get used to the idea that if I was going to play a warlock this was what I was going to deal with. I even got to the point that I stopped playing the lock outside of raids. When 3.0 came out I was redeemed...I was owning everything that was stupid enough to come after me. Now it seems as though blizzard was just teasing me as I am again being owned by everything that moves. It was nice for the short time that it lasted but it was very short lived. I have also noticed that my spell power has dropped about 30%...I was topping out at around 2800 sp and now am just below 2000 sp with fel armor ...looks like this guy is getting parked again.

BGs and arena play are different...you can run around as affliction and just dot and run in the BGs...when you are face to face with the enemy it is alot different...I am also free to express displeasure...whether you like it or not. I have 4 80s and another toon that is almost 80 and none of those toons have experienced the kind of nerfs I have seen to the warlocks. When Wrath came out I ran many instances with my mage and hunter and did not see a single warlock. Alot of people were driven away from playing their locks because of the difficulty staying alive in world pvp. When I can sit there for the entire fight unable to attack when a rogue jumps me or to be unable to fear a warrior and when my spells just keep getting reflected it is very frustrating. And lets not even bother with pallys and the almost eternal bubble...Just needed to vent and figured who better to vent to than the folks who can feel my pain... |

While I agree damn near every other class is better, I suppose its the fun of winning with the worst class that appeals to me. I love my lock. My dk and priest are far superior in every way i can think of, but I always go back for the challenge. |

Re: pvp sadness
To be honest I don't believe Lock's are viable anymore in an arena setting, even though there are those who would disagree with me. Although I would agree with ShortStak that winning in Arena against some of the other toons can be very satifying. At the end of the day you simply have to really enjoy playing a lock, otherwise the class can be very fustrating even at the best of times. Although one does need to accept the simple fact that there is no equal playing field in the game, because of the very nature of each class. Once you accept this very simple fact then playing a lock or otherwise becomes all the more enjoyable. |

Re: pvp sadness
I had the opposite feel as the ereberun. During the second half of BC, I did a *lot* of PvP in battlegrounds and had an absolute blast as affliction. Early on, I was getting killed a lot until I finally got a bit of PvP gear. Then came patch 3.0, where all the melee's burst damage went through the roof and warlocks became nothing more then chew toys up close. In fact, I completely stopped playing battlegrounds after 3.0 until dual-spec arrived in 3.1 and I could dedicate a spec to PvP. Right now, my #1 complaint is that the upper level PvP gear can't be earned via participation in battlegrounds. In fact, I'm more likely to buy the S6 gear with EoTs before I'd manage to get a good enough arena rating to buy it via PvP. Even if I had gotten my rating up to 1850 or whatever, I still believe that it's wrong to limit gear to people with high ratings. On the upside, I can now buy epic Wrath gems with honor points. So I have some place to dump my excess honor (I've nothing left to buy, that can be bought without a high rating, and have been sitting at 75k for months). |

I first saw this "pvp sadness" post about the first time i took the following screen shots. I don't know if it is the battlegroup i'm in or the people i end up beating aren't exactly the pro's or what but i have been owning lately in battlegrounds. I have never done arenas but would like to, i'm working on getting gear for it. I was never much of a pvp'er but i do like doing it. I took a look at Supernex's posts related to pvp and he inspired me to take his build and try it out. I'm really liking it. Here are some screenshots from some bg's. The only pieces of pvp gear i have is the chest and the shoulders. ![]() I'm not just getting alot of killing blows and damage compared to the others, i'm getting way more than the next closest guy. Look at this av. I feel like i'm dreaming and this isn't real . Somebody have any idea why its so rediculous? next closest on damage for this av was i believe a mage with 746k damage done.

Re: pvp sadness
Ereberun, no offense but you sound like one of those players who just rolled a Warlock when they were very good. We have been through a lot of changes, those of us who truely love the class learn to adapt and continue to do well. Though I agree we are worse off than we were, but i would never park my Warlock

Re: pvp sadness
How did you lose 800 spell power with the patch? BUG?? Anyway, I have a Rogue, DK and a Lock, all with decent PVP gear (and many HK's), and my favorite class to play of the 3 is definitely the Lock. Perhaps if you don't enjoy the playstyle, try another class. If you do enjoy the playstyle, then you probably just need a lot more practice.

I find your post a bit disheartening. I personally like the challenge of occasionally being beaten in a battleground. There are some simple tips that may help you out with rogues/pallies/warriors namely spec into affliction. Instant Howl of Terror is brillant Rogue: when they stunlock you take 1 or 2 shots then pop your trinket (human racial), instant howl of terror, demon circle then simple run away dotting Coexhaustion and corruption. If they use cloak of win keep running if they trinket out use deathcoil. then let your dots rain. If he manages to stun you simple teleport out n keep your distance with Coex. Pally: HoJ instantly trinket (human racial) howl, similar pattern to above, circle, run away use your instants if he bubbles continue to run, if he catchs you teleport away n then keep your distance. Warrior: your gonna have to save your teleport for WW if he is arms otherwise just Coex n keep your distance with teleport as well. Basically with melee its about surviving the initial burst.. Personally I always travel with a trusty voidwalker n if they r very well geared pop your shield for those extra few seconds to get fears, haunts, ua n demon circle off ![]() I hope this helps you out maybe with those encounters, I love playing my warlock its challenging but I disagree we are underpowered I rarely die 1v1. Im sorry I cannot advise much further about Arena as I havent had much time put in there recently! ![]() Happy Killing my friend! ![]() Webby
