3.2 Lock PvP fixes?

Alright I know there are a lot of us out there that think that locks have a bit of downfall in regards to pvp. Mainly arena considering the focus of the fighting and the evened out conflicts (2v2 3v3 5v5) I personally can't comment on arena yet. Either way I notice in bgs that there are some things I think could stand to be changed for locks-some agree some don't

either way i'd like to hear what it is everyone thinks that needs to be down with locks.

Drop skills add skills replace skill a with skill b-survivability-escapes-immunity eaters?


what do you think? If you have an idea for some kind of new skill to throw in please give a name and description etc and explain it.

i think something major needs to be done about the Demonic Portal! the range needs to be extended and i think that you should be able to port while stunned, that way we have a small advantage over stun type spells. but of course it would not be OP'd because the point to the spell is that the Circle has to be cast first before the porting can happen. so it's not like a spell break. it's just a way to get away from melee classes when they knock us out. With the range i think it should have at least a 60 yard range (i believe it is at 30 right now) of course i would rather push for 100

other than that we need a better demon or an improved use of demons. but that is just me. i have been using the succubus lately, she is ok, and the felhunter is nice, but i think that something different would be nice. maybe a way to control your demon, like actually become the demon and control them for a battle, like the eye of kilrog except you can use the demon in battle while keeping yourself intact in another place.

i have just been getting really frustrated doing PVP lately, the demons don't do what i think they should do or the other players are immune to everything they do... and other classes seem to rape me even though i am geared to the max with non-arena gear but i still feel underpowered. maybe even a healing spell would be nice, i know that affliction is a healing type spec, but destruction isn't really that good for healing. i might just be out of practice though, i haven't pvp'd ALOT in a while, i will just jump in a BG here and there, but i still get slaughtered so i get frustrated jump out of the BG and just go cliff diving for a while i spent most of my time in Wintergrasp just looking for single players to hit. some are easy kills and some aren't i think i am beginning to hate Paladans more than Rogues at this point!

but anyway back to the improvements...

i would really just leave it at improved demonic circle, better demon, and a healing spell. i also think that an invisibility or minor invisibility spell would be useful, even though that is more rogue like. i just think that following the lore of a warlock, they have all of these crazy powers, they can summon demons and stuff, but they can't be invisible for a while. maybe some sort of shadow form spell! i don't want to be OP'd obviously because then we would be the target of a million complaints like the rogues are now, but i would just like something to give us an edge in battle, i just can seem to get anywhere. oh well. hope you guys have some cool ideas. and i hope that Blizz sees them! they say something awesome is going to happen to the soul-shard system soon, maybe that will give us the edge we are looking for.

Very simple PVP fix.

Keep Demonic teleports as is just make it an instant cast with a 10 sec cooldown that breaks snares. Just like the Mage spell "Blink" that they can use with a 20 yard range and 15 sec cooldown. We get less cooldown as we have to think about constantly dropping the portal.

Done, everything else we're competitive with.

I would settle for one change with regards to our Demonic Circle.

Make it give every member within 20 yards of it a sense stealth buff.

Dps spells are fine. Warlocks need a CC break. Being Gnome, I have Escape Artist along with the Medallion, so I know I have it better then most. Being ranged DPS, there aren't many spells that allow us to create space very easily; Fear hardly counts, it's the most breakable effect in the game. Allow DT to break stuns...that's all i want. Some extra distance would be nice too.

I agree somewhat with closer733 on this one, just make DT break a stun, though I think that it would probably HAVE to have a longer cd on it as the range is so long. I'm thinking 20-25 seconds(just as long as shadowfury maybe?) though not instant cast to be able to summon it. Honestly it's such a very quick cast anyway with a small amount of haste(which can be greatly stacked in pvp now).

It doesn't need to be anymore than 40 yards though.

Warlocks aren't broken at all. We have trouble with certain melee classes and that's really the only thing we're missing. But I'd have to say If we got a way to break stuns we honestly would be OP. I mean people complain about us already. If you're a good Warlock you can potentially take on any class and win. There is no one class that can completely shut us down, not even rogues. So I'm pretty happy where we're at right now.

I think people complain about warlocks nowadays because they became accustomed to when we WERE broken. There is a difference between a powerful ability that can kill you and an overpowered ability that kills you every time, and many people don't understand that.

Destro warlocks (and they are the ones I hear the most complaints about) are both overpowered and underpowered. If I can fight you on my terms then I can beat you, but if you can stun/silence me and kill my demon then I will fail. Our damage output is definitely fine, what we do need are more tools to combat melee. Those tools need to require skill and quick thinking to use properly, and optimistically won't just be the same things that other classes have with a new paint job. Tempting as it may be to simply slap a stun break on the demonic teleport, doing that will just have us drifting more towards mages.

I would like to see my demon become a more dangerous tool; one that can protect me and also seriously hamper the enemy. If it's going to be such a liability when it dies then it needs to be a serious threat while it's alive and not just a counterspell.

I also don't think we are "broken". As I have said many times, in BGs we rock and we rock hard. Arena is another monster though, but that doesn't mean that WE are broken.. Really I think Arena is broken We do need some ways to help protect us from Rogues and some other melee. How? I don't really know but its pretty widely know that Rogues love us and recently I hear the same is true of warriors.
