Re: Supernex to the rescue?
Just want to add my input on the pets. ALL warlock pets are viable for PVP, including the imp. Aganist melee teams that want to train the pet, especially if my healer cant seem to keep it up, I summon a phased imp. The imp cant be targeted, attacked, nor healed (except for health funnel) but you still get the mitigation for SL so it's pretty useful. You only have to remember to Health funnel whenever it gets low. |

I just posted this in another thread, but I figured I could post it here too: ------------------ I play a Rogue, DK and my Warlock. This is how I would rate the PVP pets on each of these toons... As a Warlock (Destro): #1 - Succubus (useful against most classes) #2 - Fel Hunter (useful against many classes) #3 - VW (bubble is nice, but no substitute for Seduce against melee - unless running flag in BG's, IMO) As a Warlock (Affliction): #1 - Fel Hunter (has better synergy with Affliction's playstyle IMO, I use the FH 99.9% as Affliction) #2 & 3 - Succubus or VW are about equal IMO...) TIE As a Warlock (Demo): #1 - Felguard...need I say more? As a Rogue (vs. Warlock): #1 - Succubus (easiest to kill, yes, but without a doubt the best demon against Rogues if used properly.) #2 - VW (Sacrifice is nice, but it really isn't all that big of an obstacle when compared to Seduce.) #3 - Fel Hunter (useless...) As a DK (vs. Warlock): #1 & 2 - Probably a toss up between the Fel Hunter and Succubus...somewhat depends on spec. If I spec Lichborne it diminishes the impact of Seduce significantly as I can usually down the Warlock in the duration of a Strangulate and Lichborne. #3 - VW (Again, Sacrifice while a decent damage mitigator, really should only take 2 globals max to take down, so it doesn't really make a HUGE difference in the fight against a Warlock, IMO. I have crit for close to 10k with Scourge Strike (Unholy), Frost Strike (Frost) and Obliterate (Frost or Blood) in PVP against at least partially Hateful geared players, so figure 1 crit Strike to take down the bubble if not talented, 2 globals if talented.) I could break down the advantages/disadvantages to specifics/tactics/team comps (arena), but for now this should suffice for a generality. **NOTE: The only real situation where I would prefer the VW to any other pet would be against a Feral Druid. Warriors, Rogues, and Paladins I would MUCH prefer a Succubus, and a DK I would prefer either a Succubus or Fel Hunter. Quote:

Re: Supernex to the rescue?
well with fel dom being on a reduced cd now, the imp isnt that useful anymore. i never wasted a dom on summoning him, i'd just port away and hard res one while my fel was being cleaved to hell. |

theere is a rediculously good destro training viedo out there, i think it is on the front page of this website, but its (somebodysname, i forgot who) desrtuction duel guide 2 so just youtube destruction duel guide 2 if you cant find it. very helpful, ive been playing destro for a while and still learned a little from it also to note: DKs can be silenced!!! i rape DKs now since i learned that. if you can silence them b4 they pop lichborne, you immediately put them on defence, also when you spell lock them (silence :P) they cant grip you Last edited by robzilla; September 08, 2009 at 02:12 PM.. |

A little advice at least: If I play against destruction locks there are to possibilitys to effectivly counter them. First is to interrupt Immolate from the start if counterspell is ready. If you meet an enemy like a Warlock with Felhunter or a Mage at distance or any Melee at Meleerange. Dont try to get your first Immolatecast. Cast it about 0,8 Secs and jump or move. That's called a fakecast, which means faking that you want to cast to avoid a counterspell on your firecastscool. Second is to dispel Immolate immediately while dotting or fearing him. So like someone before posted. Try to CC first probably with a Shadowfury. I have problems against destrulocks which I suddenly meet in BG and can't get enough distance to my felhunter which trys to attack the lock. The usual following is an Immolate which can't be dispelled cause I'm AND my pet are stunned and i'm getting a Conflag right away. That doesn't mean I loose but it gives trouble though. Take that in mind if you play against classes who can dispell themselves. |

try casting Chaos Bolt after Immolate and *before* Conflagrate to get maximum burst. Reason being your CB and Conflag will hit at the same time. If you can manage a searing pain after CB that's even more burst. the challenge here is that your immolate may be dispelled by the time you hit conflag, so be aware. |
