3.2 New 80 Warlock wanting to PvP

Hi guys, first time poster here. I actually roll with a DK aswell, and I´ve mostly been playing him at 80, but these few weeks I´ve been levling my old main and just a week ago I dinged 80. Been getting geared slowly in ToC both normal and hc. But after trying destro in PvE I continued with it in BGs which I enjoy the most. Bt there are some fundamental questions I need answering!?

How should I spec in Destro, is Supression important at all? How much +hit is in needed in PvP anyway as Destro? What about stats? What should I be aiming for? Crit over haste/hit?...

Any particular rotation you start of with to burst down? What kind of glyph do you find to be the best and what pets do you use, and in what way do they help you out?

Now to the most important question for me, what about gear? What are my PvP BiS if I say that I can get the Deadly Gear, the WG items and the Furious off pieces, can someone compile me a list of all the slots? And should I combine these with 2 pieces of Conquerer?

Thanks in beforehand from a new Lock PvPer, because they are so fun Especially as Destro

Re: New 80 Warlock wanting to PvP

You need +4% to be guaranteed of hitting a same-level player in PvP. For maximum thoroughness, aim for 6% as some racial passive abilities reduce the chance to be hit - as an Undead the only one which will trouble you is Draenei, who are 2% less likely to be hit by Shadow spells (includes Curses, Fear aswell as actual shadow damage spells).

You also need some spell penetration. A good number to aim for is 75 which cancels a druid's Mark of the Wild. For maximum thoroughness something like 135 is good in case you run into people with certain talents. Yes Curse of Elements reduces resistance but the target may resist your Curse! Or a druid/mage can decurse.

After reaching the minimum hit and penetration numbers, you need a load of resilience, say 800 is a reasonable target, though the soft cap is about 1400 or so. It depends on what kind of PvP you'll be doing. e.g. 2v2 as double DPS you'd want to prioritise burst damage and hence use lower resilience. It's always a calculated risk, damage vs survivability - I've taken my rogue into BGs in full raid gear/spec and killed people inside a Cheap Shot but died equally quickly myself.

Then obviously stamina, spellpower, crit and haste are all good, as much as possible of all. It seems there are two opposite schools of thought regarding crit/haste. Personally I like a lot of haste but I've seen arguments for prioritising either crit or haste.

In BGs there's normally so much going on I can't really use a rotation. I'll tend to Shadowflame, Shadowfury or Howl of Terror when I see clumps. Death Coil or Fear healers. Throw curses around freely. Immolate then immediately Conflagrate in case there's a dispeller. Conflagrate and Chaos Bolt can crit for big numbers, use them as often as you can (hence I glyph for Chaos Bolt). Between doing all that and running around like a lost chicken I don't have much time for filler like Incinerate.

Gear-wise Deadly plus WG plus Furious is the best you can get without doing Arena, except Weapon/ Offhand/ Wand you'll need to get from PvE in some way (heroics, raids, Argent Tournament, badges). Oh yeah and make sure to get the PvP trinket which breaks fear, stuns, etc - invaluable.

Glyphs you definitely want Soul Link and Conflagrate. Options for the third include Chaos Bolt like I already mentioned, Shadowflame, Immolate or maybe Howl of Terror.

Sorry I've not had time to answer all your questions. Keep browsing these forums, all the topics you mention are covered somewhere, probably several times in multiple threads.

Spec suppression if your hit is low, i heard about 4% hit should be fine. Also with destro i believe spell power and crit should be your goal.(+stam for survivability)

When i was destructo is used Immo->Chaos Bolt->Conflag->Incin->Incin. (after curse of elements of course)
Glyphs i used were :
ShadowFlame/Immolate
Conflag
Incinerate

ShadowFury and fears are your oh shit buttons

It'd probably be good to start with some good pve gear if possible(Make sure you at least get a decent pve weapon), but if you just want to get into pvp gear, i would recommend either buying the savage set, and/or getting into arenas, even if you don't score very high your still getting the points you can buy gear with and its way better than the honor grind.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your thought, this is the best WoW forum on the net! So glad it is for Warlocks, I appreciate what you have said about +hit needed and so on. Since I wrote this a while back ago on AJ (didn't get any response) I have PvPed a bit and now I am more familiar with the spec and such so no worries about what kind of rotation I should be pulling. What I am having problems is, what specific items should I try and get with the gear that is available for me.

ATM I have the Deadly Chest/Gloves/Leggings/Ring + The WG Trinket (Titan Forged Rune of Audacity) and the Furious Neck which just dropped for me. Considering the other pieces, what should I roll with? Let's say head for example, Conquereror (for 2pc bonus), WG Head or the Deadly head? This is where I'm getting confused..Furious offpiece feet or the WG feet? Somehow I need very specific guidelines to maximise my PvP potential through the certain combinations of gear that I can get. And I would like some of your help here...

Thanks again

That's easy, I just go by item level as the gear tends to be pretty similar in what stats it offers.

WG head is 200, Deadly head is 213.
WG feet are 200, Furious feet are 226.
etc
Try using wowhead filters like http://www.wowhead.com/?items=4.1crv=0#0-2+1

I'd personally avoid PvE gear, even Tier items, apart from as a stop-gap until you can pick up as many PvP pieces as you can.
