So me and my rl friend have been doing some arena lately but not enough to get our arena rating that high, but tits still fun and i enjoy it. He playd a dk and of course i play a lock, so yesterday we went up against a resto druid and a rogue, and my firend being undergeared and under experienced died very quickly while i was sapped, which i trinketed out of, the cycloned, once he was dead and the cyclone was over i just banished the druid tree and killed the rogue very quickly, however what came afterwards really really sucked. s. I fought the druid for twenty minutes before giving up and letting him kill me. it was ridiculous. he could barely even hurt me but i couldn't kill him either, he had 19k health and by the time was at 4-5k which is only a few seconds of casting he would start healing and i could never really make it. i tried using shadowfury to stop the heal but he would get at least 1 HoT off by then. i tried everything i could think of but quickly my problem was that i was out of mana, so i would life tap and deathcoil, fear and drain mana, hoping to prevent his heals. but he would just switch to cat form and hide stealthed somewhere. and this kept going on for 20 minutes!, in the last 5-6 mintutes i had under 15% health and mana the whole time but i could always hang in long enough to death coil and get more health. but it wasnt getting me anywhere so i just quit. Anyways my point it, is there any tricks to avoid a mana war with a resto druid or even a disc priest, or how to handle a mana war if its unavoidable, i had alot of pvp experience but none where mana is a problem so im totally new to this. Please share anything you think could help! thanks |

Re: Resto druid in arena
Usually if i am confronted with 1v1 Resto druid.. Make him heal..your damage will kill his mana. If that doesnt work and your consuming more mana than you need to be, then mana drain make him burn his innervate If you have to life tap - then drain life to recover life lost while also doing damage to him. The key with a resto druid is, you HAVE to kill it before his innervate comes back up. |

My tatic is Drain Mana when he is in the Tree form, if him changed to another form start to do a lot of damage. If you have a Fel hunter out, this fight will be very easy. |

Re: Resto druid in arena
On other notes; Banish, Fear, Shadow fury and as Rachakuka said, fel hunter is nice. You should have 4 interrupts then for his bigger healings, and all should be up at all times if rotated properly If the druid has low HP, he should be easy to burn through using CC chaining combos. |

You can still take out a restoration druid with a succubus, it just takes a little practice and a little skill. I prefer the succubus over the Felhunter. 1. If you play as destruction, don't ever Mana-drain a resto druid. Innervate Glyph of Innervate Simply put, you can't mana-drain them OOM in under two minutes. You can try to dispell innervate with your Felpup, but any decent druid will put up all HoT's, before using Innervate, which makes dispell a lottery-ticket. 2. A resto druid will never be able to win against you (to kill you), if he doesn't shapeshift out of Tree-form, so it's a valid assumption to make, that eventually he will go out of tree-form, but either way, you should still be able to win. 3. A restro druids HPS will always be higher than your DPS. If you made the druid go as low as 4 - 5k health, then I'm assuming that you know how to utilize a destruction-chain. (example of a destruction-chain: Chaos Bolt, Shadowfury, Immolate, Death-Coil, Conflagrate, Incinerate, CC-effect (either Fear or Seduction, or in this case, Banish). Basically what a destruction-chain does, is that it disables the opponent from casting (in this case, healing), while you also apply damage and adding pressure. 4. Druids aren't able to remove magic-debuff's such as Immolate, however they can remove Curse of Elements. If you are using your succubus and you are initiating your destruction-chain with Seduction, then apply Curse of Elements while he is seduced (13 % damage increase is a lot). When you get him to low HP, then banish him right off the bat, because he won't recieve healing from the HoT's he has on him, while banished. While he is banished, hopefully some of your CD's will wear off, and then you put him out of his misery. You probably won't get the druid down within, or right after the first nuke-chain, because he most likely still has his trinket ready (but I don't know if that's the case in the situation you are describing). When he has used his trinket, you are free to use another destruction-chain to nuke him down. Good luck in future druid takedowns. Last edited by Heatbabz; November 04, 2009 at 02:29 AM.. |
