I've read some of the threads on how to beat warriors, but they mostly refer to BGs. I'm interested in tactics used against them in 2v2 arenas. I run as affliction with a resto shaman. And to be even more specific, I'm interested in strats when the warrior is paired with a healer. My typical MO for melee / healer combos is to drain the healer and get him dead, keeping the melee either CCd and / or dots ticking for added pressure. This doesn't work too well against a warr. I rely on the free time of fear (and the melee running back to me under the effects of nightmare) to spend some quality time on their healer, but warriors get back in my business so fast with intercept. Furthermore, if I'm hamstrung the healer sometimes gets out of range and I find myself just walking towards the healer ...a wasted fear. Maybe something like CCing the healer as heavily as possible with hex, fears, BE silence, felpup spell lock while dpsing the warrior? Been doing arenas for 3 or 4 months now, so I have some experience under my belt, but lots to learn. Much more in my head, but I'm out of time. I'll check back for any responses and thanks in advance

You could always try and open up with a succy seduce, forcing them to pop trinket then go ahead with the fear. I love doing that in BG 1v1s idk how well it works in arena though |

Arena strategies are very similar to bg strategies. The most important thing is portal placement.I play aff in pvp and I love going up against warriors. Just drop your portal behind or on top of something. DoT them up when the get close I use my glyphed shadowflame and port away. By the time they get back to you they are mostly dead. Finish with a fear and DoT refresh. I especially love the sewers for this strategy. It is so much fun to jump down and port back up as soon as the warrior follows you off the ledge. Make sure to watch the their expression when they realize they are never going to get close to you. Repeat as needed.

Re: Warriors in Arenas
First make a focus macro to easily set your focus. Then make a macro to have your succubus seduce your focus target at will. Really the only way to beat a warrior is to have your port up, dont waste the port on his regular attacks or he will just incercept/charge you and then bladestorm you. Wait until he bladestorms as he cannot make any moves until it is over with which allows you to get a spell or 2 off on his undefended self. Also recognize a smart warrior, a smart warrior will have a macro set up to equip sword/board when you open the distance on him and he cant charge/intercept you and put up spell reflect, if you are watchful for this, cast a relatively useless spell like curse of weakness or something to eat the reflect. In the end, every arena is pretty much to get the other person to push their o shit buttons in response to you first, if you can do that (ie seduce to start the fight) then you give yourself a huge advantage, its really why rogues have the kill abilities that they do is because they force everyone else to react to them and not the other way around. |

Dont CC the melee CC the healer you will kill the warrior faster than you will the healer. For more in depth here goes. Remember Warriors are mostly fear resistant they have too many skills that break it so dont waist mana trying. In 2v2 remember a warrior is more or less unstoppable unless you take away his pet healer , meaning CC the healer they dont have nearly the amount of fear breakers that a warrior does so its easier to cc them. 1v1 a good warrior is decently strong against a lock. The first thing to remember is stay away from Bladestorm it will tear you a new one so save your port for Bladestorm only, everything else you can deal with. Personally affliction spec isnt really strong or weak against warriors its tricky so other than that its more or less pratice reconize their CDs and learn how to respond but mainly stay out of Bladestorm. If your good at tracking CDs you can try fear but if not dont try it, it makes you stationary and that = bad. If you can keep their healer CCed well enough then you will win hands down just make your healer can cope with mortal strike and you'll be fine.
