Dueling Rogues.
Wondering how people are dealing with rogues in duels. I tried CoW, but that doesnt help all that much. I've heard that Fear can take away all their combo points, not sure on this either :?. So what is a good strategy to beat these fast menaces. I feel so sad for a rogue 7 lvls under me owning me :(

Part of dealing with rogues is based on your pet, your build, and the rogue's class. With Undead rogues, fear/mez is mostly useless (unless they don't know what Will of the Forsaken is). Keep in mind they can charge in, closing the distance and making life pretty miserable. Succubus - mez (you should be able to get one off before Will of the Forsaken even against undead), back up, soul fire / searing pain (so they land at the same time), mez, back up, shadow bolt / searing pain, mez shadow bolt / searing pain, mez (last possible mez usually), Curse of Agony / Corruption / Immolation (if you have the first two insta cast you can usually get Immo off just in time for the others to do their first tick of damage). If they have Will of the Forsaken, you may have to duke it out with DoTs, do a lot of running (try to stay mid range and never show your back), and lots of nightfall procs. Felhound - Use the paranoia to your advantage so the rogue doesn't get the first shot (which is by far the most painful). VW - Sacrifice and duke it out - you have a buffer. DoTs up, get everything in that you can - Curse of Agony/Corruption/Siphon Life/Immolation, then start nuking - you have time til Sac runs out! Imp - Use his fireballs to deal with more damage! Rogues have two basic builds - cc or damage. In the damage build, if you're not high stamina, you may possibly die before you can turn around. In the cc build you may be standing there for a while (which can be very nice if you have a succubus to mez or a felhound to insure you're not stuck). Remember to keep a healthstone, health potion, and soulstone a press away. ![]() Krys |

Ya, what he said is pretty accurate, I usually mez, run REALL Far, CoShadow, Shadowbolt, shadowbolt, mez, Run FAR, s. Bolt S bolt, mez, fear, Corruption, Curse of Agony, and /dance till they die. Alliance Rogues are a joke for me, Undead rogues, um, if they get the jump on you and you dont have either Soul link or A voidwalker to sacrifice, i doubt you have any chance at all.

Amplified curse of exhaustion does wonders as well, they will move at 75% if they sprint, so you can just dot and run, then keep him exhausted and dotted with whatever pet you have bashing away. A smart rogue will have mind numbing poison and crippling poison when hunting casters, so ALWAYS have an anti venom bandage at hand, it has saved me so many times.

The rogue will lose his combo points if he loses you as a target. Range or invisibility are a warlock's only options. The gnomish cloaking device is on a 1 hr timer. Not sure about the invis potions. And range cuts both ways, as he'll probably have time to restealth. Not sure if it's worth all that effort to reset the combo points, as it isn't very hard for the rogue to get them back. |
