Life is certainly easier as affliction, but you can do it as demo. Problem with demo is when you run out of cds you are just waiting for them to come back up. You just have to practice a TON and expect to lose a lot as you get better. Pally/lock also doesn't have much synergy, unless you are going holy pally, but like I said, you can make it work with practice (get that resto sham or resto druid adn you'll do much better in 3s
The synergy between demo and ret is the burn. At max dps, with both using CDs, it's a pair that has a real chance to burn through healing output.

I suggest you both assist on one target (healer if there is one, most killable dps if not), lead with your meta>>leap for stun, then HoG, pallie HoJ, your deathcoil, all the time burning at max DPS.

Reserve your petstun for the other opponent to ensure he doesn't disrupt your DPS too much while you using your CDs.

Fear as necessary to fill gaps in the CC caused by trinkets and other escapes.

Pallie rebuke is also useful for keeping CC on healers who don't burn down as quickly as you would like.

Thanks for the advice. It's what i do all the time, but mostly it just doesn't work out! But now we're both 85, got better gear and awesome new spells, so maybe it will go better...
Till then, gonna try with the rogue first and see what happens there ;>

so my affliction lock currently runs with a frost mage any tips there we always seem to get stomped by rogues or warriors. Just wondering if theres any way to avoid that.

is there any way of getting by with a pve demo or affy spec in arena? I'm dual specced for raiding, but do enjoy the occasional pvp. I know I'm losing the stan talents, but is it entirely crucial?

I think you could make a go for points, or just to play around and have some fun. Nothing wrong with that.

If you get serious about it though, you'll definitely want "insta-howl" and CoEx though at least. Improved fear, is so-so.

hey kasha, (not sure if you have any pvp gear so ..)

Higher numbers of team players would likely improve your chances ie RBG > 5v5 > 3v3 > 2v2 so some talents you may get by without.

Arena: depends on skill/gear/setup. yes it is possible, but you will probably lose heavily until the MMR balances out. you have to be quite nimble in positioning and CC and/or you need partners to cover any shortfall your talents miss.

Maybe affliction would work better and for RBG the less you use things that highlight you as a warlock the better. ie green Jesus Beam lurching through a bunch of players almost says "here i am kill me"

bear in mind a full set of pvp gear should get you around 3k - 3.5k resilience (and upto around 4k for the epics) regardless of enhancements, and that equates to roughly 30-40% damage mitigation.

have a go mate, no harm. with a few wins you will get better core gear as you go along. concentrate on items that would give you the best improvement over the individual item you have equipped. Although get the escape trinket first. (humans excepted)

K

edit: just seen your ask about Demo. according to players in the know, Demo isn't so strong right now. for me anything that involves standing still to turret/heavy cast usually ends in death and Affli seems better suited to being more mobile.
try find D1REs post re BGs and Gilneas

word. I'll keep that in mind, although most I've experienced firsthand already. I'm sitting at around 3.7k res and have tried running 2's before and got completely steamrolled.
And yes, green jesus beam typically puts me as murder subject one. well put.

2s is just painful - if you can play 3s, locks are gods atm - literally in about 80% of the top 50 comps cause the synergy is so tight

Re: Xenon's (glad exp player) PvP help thread.

Hi, my name is mozambike...

i am lock too, i was playin LMS (1950 - 2k mmr), we are having problems with RPM, dk warrior healer... and sometime jungles cleave...

Dk warrior healer:

they sit on me i use everything i can to survive .. we play fear/poly healer, mage/shaman controls warrior and try killin dk, sometimes we try kill warriors , after the healer use trinket, we hex it and then chain fear and poly but it is not going good, they kill me or shaman go oom before with we can kill one of them, if we win 2 we lose 3 with comb

jungle cleave:

i cant control the burts that they do on me, and they kill me in cyclones, we try to stay near to healer to get hunters traps and avoid all damage that we can

Rmp:

we try kill mage and earthbind CoEx hex frostnova(mage and elemental) ring of frost on rogue, can poly / fear /wind seer on priest. but they sit on me until 40%, and when the shaman try to heal me they switch to shaman, and they blind poly or fear us (we have used trinket at this point) and we lose :(

any advice with our strat or something?

thanks :D
