Orc Warlock duelling Undead Warlcok

Hi, I'm an orc warlock and was wondering if I stood a chance against an undead Warlock. Here's the situation: the undead lock has better gear than me, same level 60, but is very predictable. He is completely destruction spec'd and always uses his succubs during pvp. I am mainly destruction with improved Imp and improved fireball, and affliction up to nightfall. I was wondering if maybe I can take him, possibly with the felhunter or imp. The kid is kind of an ego trip, so is there any way I can catch him off guard?

thanks!

In theory...

Start with the felhunter, pop up Blood Fury during the countdown. Have the felhunter attack immediately, watch damage break the Succubus seduce. Hit him with Fear while he's trying to channel Soul Burn. Watch him hit Will of the Forsaken. Have the felhunter eat it. Fear him again. Lay down the pain. When you see the burning hands, spell lock.

I'm wondering if I cast shadow ward, that's a good place to start, before he fears me, I'll also fear his succubus when i get the chance. Hopefully my imp can keep pounding away on him, or would the VW be a good guy to use since he'll probably put a ton of DOT's on me, and break the fear/mezz pretty quickly. Will the VW slapping him in the face keep him at bay very effectively and sacrafice would be nice!

Wow thanks for the speedy advice, I was wondering if the felhunter can eat his Will of the Forsaken, that would be awesome!

duel

I have barely dueled at all. When a duel starts, do previous buffs get wiped? I don't think my advice will be much help, and some of it may be flat-out wrong, but here's my thoughts...

I'm assuming he seduces you, and spools up a Soulfire followed by some quick Searing Pains, or perhaps just alternates nukes/seduce until you are dead?

If you have lots of prep time, buy/make some fire/shadow protection potions (Greater, if you can). Drink it after he accepts the duel challenge but before the actual duel starts. Have you succubus out as well. Seduce him the same time as you. He'll use Will of the Forsaken. This forces him to start the cooldown, which opens up your Fear 20sec later. The Fire protection potion should go a long way towards negating his initial Soulfire, assuming no crits :( .

Can you use the Felhunter's Devour Magic to remove Seduce? I don't think so, but I've never had the chance to try. If it does work, that might be a good choice. Spell-lock whichever spell line seems to hurt you most. If he fears you, lock his shadow line. If he spams Searing Pain, lock the fire line. But if you have the aforementioned Fire Protection potion, you can mostly ignore the first few fire spells, so lock his shadow line definitely in that case. Try to Banish the Succubus early.

Shdow Ward is obvious, assuming he uses Corruption/Nightfall at all. You said he's a Destructo-lock, so maybe he just goes pure Searing Pain spamming, I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if Shadow Protection potion and Shadow Ward stack. (or if the 2 protection potions stack with each other)

Anyhow, to sum up:

*(Greater) Fire Protection potion
*Felhunter to Devour Seduce (if this even works)
*Banish pet
*spell-lock his shadow line (Fear, Banish, bolts)
*Seduce/Fear him right away, to force him to use Will of the Forsaken, and if you live 20sec you can start the Fear-DOT juggle.

Those are just my random thoughts. Again, I don't even know if half of this will work, but I'm just trying to provide some ideas to help.

I thought it was confirmed that Felhunter could not Devour Will of the Forsaken?

Also, I have wondered a long time about whether or not Orc Blood Fury (racial) would disrupt things like Seduce/Polymorph. I have been told repeatedly that it doesn't break them, that self-inflicted damage doesn't "count"...but I have yet to hear this from someone who's actually tested it for a fact.

Gashlyworth, have you actually tested to see whether Blood Fury breaks Seduce? If it does, I'd be thrilled! (I'm Orc)

I thought it was confirmed that it was... I'll test it myself the next time I'm running around with a warlock (which should be this week).

Every time I think to test that, I'm in Orgrimmar where I can't duel. I'll put that on the list for this week too. Actually, I have two self-inflicted-damage things to test, so that'll be good. You know, get some work done, as opposed to all of that silly leveling.

Please let me (us) know the results of the test. I've been meaning to test it myself, but I never seem to think of it until I'm offline, stuck at work.

Out of curiousity, what's the second self-inflicted damage thing you're going to test?

This came up a couple of weeks ago in the official warlock forum. After a few posts (including some that noted that Will of the Forsaken doesn't have the all important "Magic" tag), a gnome posted that he'd just tested it, and the Felhunter was unable to devour it.
