Warrior Warlock

I know everyone is going to say how bad of an idea this is, but it is just an idea.. and i would not reccomend this to anyone.. just figured id throw it out there.

now...

instead of specing in damage, spec in living... get some Jumpercables XL, Demonic Sac, Master Deo, Soul Link, Imp Health Stone and Siphon Life.

instead of enchanting your armor, get a full suit of Ironweave and re-enforce it.. this should give you about 65% more AC (guessing)

lastly instead of getting crit trinkets and armor, get % to dodge.

this spec would require a large mana pool, but since stats are being replaced for AC i dont see how well that would work out. This relys on what i call fixed damage, since you will almost never crit. Instead of hopeilg for crits to kill you know exactly what you are going to need to kill someone. (not that you wouldent arealdy).

this is strictly for PVP, no PVE at all.

dumb or decent?

It's got potential. My gear set up for pve raiding working along similar lines pretty well but I'm overall a carebear so not sure how pvp would work out. I'll try to get my profile thing working so you can see my omg this stuff hurts set.

Well here is a look at what I try to wear while we try to finishing learning AQ. Haven't tooken it to the extremes your thinking of but at this rate I'll probally be built close to your idea at level 70 I am guessing.

Well in my guild at least most people are slaves to the damage meters. Things like CoE, CoR, and summoning people get in the way of damage so they won't do em. Purposely trying to live longer and doing something other than spamming bolts is a concept lost on most people.

Re: Warrior Warlock

I sort of did this because I was down on fear for a while. I didn't pump the armor or get +dodge, but I did pump my own hps and those of my pet through talents and then use SL. I was casting all of my instants, peppering with shadowburn and deathcoil, and then finishing with dagger and improved firestone. +dodge by the way is good for a rogue or hunter, but a warrior will destroy you with their overpower ability.

The problem with this set up (mine, not specifically what you described) was that it was good for one fight, and then I was beat to hell. This was fine for duels, but not in BG. This setup also doesn't scale that well at 60. The damage from a melee class with an epic weapon is pretty phenomenal. Likewise, you can't get your armor high enough to give good damage mitigation against those types of weapons. +40 armor kits are worthless to anyone other than a druid in bear form IMO.

I think that the best thing you can do for PVP is get very scientific about how you use CC. Know who can break what and how often.

This is definitely something I would be interested in looking at, once the level cap goes up, and we can then use bot the (current) high-end Talents, combined with a mid-level Talent from another tree. An interesting thing to keep in mind is that with the cap raise, Blizzard will be adding in other Talents to pick up the slack. Likely, those new Talents will be such that we'll all be bemoaning that we can't use one of those with the mid-level Talents from other trees. On the other hand, how much fun would it be to have a 3/3 Imp VW to go with your SM/Ruin build? We'll all just have to wait and see, I guess.

Re: Warrior Warlock

The drawback to this in PVP is that it would take much longer to kill your target. This would in turn give more time for reinforcements to arrive.

Other caster classes will have more time to kill you as well. I like ironweave and I've started collecting some pieces for PVP, but I plan on keeping damage gear as well and only using ironweave in places where I can't put 30+ spell damage. The only downside is that most of the desireable pieces only spawn during the tier 0.5 quests.
