Soul Fire and AB
So i was doing AB and WSG at 47 for the longest time only 15k exp away from level 48. Upon realizing that i get some sweet new spells at 48 i went and grinded quick to 48. Soul Fire has to be one of sickest spells i have now, especially in PvE and one on one PvP.I was playing around with it in AB last night and here are some of my results. I am a SL build with imp corruption. 5, 31, 3. 1) Against a 49 gnome mage self guarding the mine. Searing pain, followed immediately with CoE(elements) then seduction. Soul Fire, mage now down to 11% hp Curruption then drain soul. I took about 400 damage. 2) Against a level 48 preist at the farm, again all by his lonesome. Felhunter this time. Curse of Agony, Corruption, Spell lock, Immolate. At this point he popped his sheild up as i feared him. Casted soul fire as the fear made him run my way. Soul fire managed to break his sheild still hitting him for almost 400. SP him to death. 3) Complete rogue pounding. WSG with succubus out in tunnel of our base. Ambushed by rogue. DC, SP, CoE, seduce. Soul Fire, wand. Done. It just seems that by the time i get shadow burn, one on one i have rare chance of losing. Not when equipped with DC, fear, shadow burn, soul fire, SL, MD, and the best that goblin eng supplies.

Soul Fire is one of the most under-used and powerful spells available. A lot of warlocks turn their noses up at it because of the cast time and shard cost, but at the same time they won't have any qualms about chucking bombs and chugging pots in the BGs.

I thought I'd try out Soul Fire on some of the boss fights in ZG to see what it did for my dps. I really do like Soul Fire, so don't get me wrong, but other than my one crit for 2071, it either gets resisted (much more than shadowbolt, even with CoE somehow) or it barely hits for more than my shadowbolt. So for overall dps, spamming shadowbolt does infinitely better for me on boss fights but I still keep throwing Soul Fires out there hoping something will happen that makes me want to use it more. And I have the talent points that give me the 4 second cast for it too btw. |

pre 60 soul fire is really nasty, once you hit 60 and get a couple more ranks of SB under your belt soul fire loses some of its luster. if you ever go destruction you'll start to see a large increase in the damage it does due to emberstorm, of course you could try saccing your imp and hitting stuff with that buff on, but good luck getting anything to hold still for that long. |

Im currently in class and am bored out of my mind ... then i come across this post. Ive been 60 for a pretty good chunk of time. And since i was able to drop 31 pts into Destruction tree Ive had conflag and all the nifty talents that come with it. Pre-BWL Gear and other random fun gear my soul fires would hit for around 1900 and crit for just over 2300. Now that i have all my fun gear (including Field Marshal gear and the frequent abuse of Flask of Supreme Power, Berserking, ZHC, COE) ill Normal for about 3000 and crit for close to 6000. Now without all the fun trinkets/buffs ill drop a 2150 normal and crit for 4300ish. As far as using Soul Fire in a BG goes ... ill use it when someone is occupied attacking one of my friends (since i pvp with my own group of X-Gm's - Only way to have fun in a BG  ). Side note: I dont LIKE using a Felhunter, VW or Succy in pvp ... nor do I use Fear more then once. And if i do fear its on a druid/shammy/flag runner. - That was said becuase I know/see alot of people use Fear in a 1v1 no pressure situation to Soul Fire with out any interuptions (unless they trinket out etc.)... so i think at some point i lost my train of thought :( so ill just come back and edit later or something lol |
