You place your DOTs and then nuke

And remember Improved Life Tap and Soul Leech are crucial.

The time you spend putting up all your dots could have been used to spam your nukes instead. Soul Leech does not return nearly enough health or does it proc enough for it to justify spending 3 talent points.

For firelocks, it really depends on the gear that you have and it is essential that your crit chance be really high.

As for conflag, a lot of people say it drops your dps and that is true to some extent...in boss fights. But for mobs, conflag definitely helps dps since you only have time to cast immolate, one incinerate or two, conflag and then shadowburn. The usefulness of conflag depends on how fast your group kills the target. For longer fights, it is better to spam another incinerate, but for the times when you need to just get a little bit more damage in before the mob dies, conflag is great in that situation.
