70 Aff. Lock Needs Help with Kara
Okay so here I am http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...agonmaw&n=Inoa I'm working on gear now, (frozen shadoweave set currently, just dropped herb for tailoring last tuesday and maxed it two days ago) Anyways when I goto kara and whatnot i've been in trouble for not being able to outdps the TANKS. Now I'm completely confused by this. My spell rotation is. immo>UA>siphon life>corruption>Curse of Agony>sb After looking over my spell rotiation a bit I have redone it this way (have not tested it out) UA>amp curse>Curse of Agony>corruption>SL immolate/sb Okay so I figure maybe its either my spell rotation or my +damage thats screwing me up (note I have more +shadow gear) But I am NOT outdpsing my tank and it cost me my guild :(. Could anyone please help me out here? |

When you list your spell rotation, is that during boss fights or trash? If it isn't a boss fight, you really don't need to be throwing up a ton of dots since they won't last long enough for the full duration. I would also consider taking points out of Imp. Curse of Agony and putting some into Malediction, since you should be putting up Curse of Shadows most of the time, unless your raid has a lot of mages in it. On trash mobs you might consider CoS (sometimes Corr. after that depending on the mob) and then SB until it's dead. Bosses really need to have either Elements or Shadows on them, then I would go for UA, Corr., Immo., then SB until dot needs to be reapplied. This rotation works ok for me since they don't overlap too much. Work on your hit rating a little more by getting the Scryer's bloodgem and focus on gems that give spell damage and some hit rating (don't overdo the hit rating upgrades until you get more shadow/ spell damage). Making the FSW set is a good idea and since you obviously dont have a problem running heroics, save up those badges for some really nice gear upgrades. I don't know the specifics of your guild problems but I would hope that you weren't kicked after one Kara run. If that's the case, they're probably not worth sticking with

So you gotta booted for low DPS? Good riddance to your guild. Your gear is great except for your chest & boots (but you already know that). I think your main problem is your spell rotation. This is the spell rotation I use; Trinket, Amp Curse, Curse of Agony, SL, Corr, UA, immo. Then spam Shadow Bolts. I use this rotation on trash and bosses. Also I would remove the points from Improved Drain Soul and put it into Imporved Life Tap and Curse of Exhaustion. Also why no Fel Concentration? Unless you have 3 or 4 mages dont worry about CoE or CoS, gimping your DPS for 1 mage (who your going to OUT DPS anyway) isnt worth it. GL, let us know how it goes

Not the best guy to give advice, but pls check the following: - I would cast some of your spells but alternating instant with casting time spells - such as SL, UA, Curse of Agony, Immo, Corr. - Then, until you have everything active, I would spam shadowbolt. And pls see Canadianpimp's guide to gearing without setting foot in a raid - lots of good tips on what to get and where. Just my two cents... ciao, ale P.S. [Joking] you're lucky - my tanks can't do almost no damage AND keep little aggro...

Yeah I was kicked after one kara run :(. I heard a rumor that they're disbanding from a guildmate anyways. Actually the dotting the trashmobs is something I do, so next time I get into a guild and do a kara run I'll go ahead and do what you suggested. I'm working on a +12 spell damage meta gem now. And I'm honored with scryers x.x currently. Also I've been reading through and realized I've been recasting my dots before they stop ticking, is this really costing me DPS? As for the malediction I'll work on that I need to get like 30g to respec (seems everytime I respec someone suggests something else that seems much better xD that and I've been through every talent build but I love aff. ) Thanks for the help, also are you saying that on trash mobs to get up Curse of Shadows as well? Or did I read that wrong? edit/ wow got 3 more replies... Yeah I've been kinda jumping around with talent builds now that I've found this website I think I'm going to start headed to a really good one and just stick with it. Also, look up a mod called ShadowSeer. This is really great at showing you what kinds of damage you are doing and if you are having any misses. Just my thoughts: - Remove shadow embrace (waste of points). If you want, keep 1 for solo drain-tanking. - Work on that scryer trinket (bloodgem) for the +hit. - My cast sequence is UA, Curse of Agony, Corruption, SL (not usually on trash), then I SB until all my cooldowns are done. What I did is create a macro that uses my trinkets, casts Amplify Curse, and with each press casts in sequence Curse of Agony, Corr, SL. This really works for me. I also have similar macro's that take out Curse of Agony when I want to juggle my curses.
