Re: 70 Aff. Lock Needs Help with Kara
Change your talent build to This I'm not even going to explain why. If you can't afford a real meta gem get this one Swift Starfire Diamond After meeting the requirement for the meta gem: Re-gem everything to +7 Damage, until you can afford +9 Rotation Trash = instant dot SB spam. Rotation Boss = Dots/CoD and SB spam in between. If you can't afford real enchants yet get Knothide Armor Kit. It at least shows the guild that you know that you are aware that you need enchants. Look at Starkiller's Bauble for your trinket until you can get the scryer one. Your gear kind of gives me a headache... Bank the good spell crit gear until your mostly done with kara/gruul and are hit capped. You short term goal should be to get to 1000 Shadow Spell Damage and 76 hit rating. Ditch the Crit rating stuff and pick the spell damage stuff. Go Visit Dr Boom... Test your DPS. Last edited by oathbreaker; February 25, 2008 at 02:26 PM.. |

Re: 70 Aff. Lock Needs Help with Kara
For DPS, I would not SL for trash at all unless your guild is forgiving on low DPS Dots. If you have dark pact and you are are using imp or succubus as a mana battery, you shouldn't really need life tap anyway. Also, life tapping in the middle of a battle is also going to lower your DPS for the time it takes you to life tap. Don't life tap or dark pact until you really need it. For the question about whether refreshing a DoT before it is up is costing you DPS, it depends. If you are perfect, then yes, it costs you. But if you are an imperfect person and recasting corruption (for example) 2 second earlier versus 2 second too late is probably better to do 2 seconds earlier. Even if it is mana inefficient, then fine, drink between battles like everyone else if you can't dark pact the mana inefficiency away. The major exception to whether it costs you dps is really Curse of Agony. Curse of Agony keeps increasing its damage per tick until the last tick. So the last tick really packs a relative wallop. If you refresh before Curse of Agony is done, then your really losing the damage for sure. As an aside, it does appear as if you are emphasizing a build for PVE which is nice for your RAID group, but you are on a PVP server and you do appear to have some PVP gear on. While you should do things positively for your guild, I wouldn't give up on some stuff like "instant howl of terror". Have a 2nd instant fear (death coil being the first) is pretty necessary especially if you might be caught farming for primals which it sounds like you need to do. Also, farming is much easier with iHOT and until you are "rich" enough for Frozen Shadow Weave etc. you can just dot up many mobs and then iHOT after 3 or 4 are on you and before they get back to you, they are dead. Farming as affliction is really easy since instant dots (SL, Corr, Curse of Agony) takes out nearly any elemental I am going for without having to do anything else but stay alive. For the person that suggest CoS and putting points in malediction. I still don't really understand that. What DPS boost is that getting versus Curse of Agony? I would be curious to know the math behind that. I guess I had always "heard" that CoS is only useful if you have another arcane or shadow damage user. |
