Debuff slot management: raid boss
Hi all, I searched, found a few posts, none of them were exhaustive (here and here). I could not find a consolidated answer on how to best manage debuffs with the 40-slot limit. What made me think of debuff slot management was when my curse of shadows was pushed off the boss. Edit: after posting, some experienced warlocks suggested that you can't come up with rules to handle debuff management. The priority of debuffs on a boss varies from one to another. I was hoping for some raid policies and rules that we could use, for example: - Hunter should only use scorpid sting, and only the assigned hunter - Warlock should use L60 version of their CoS / CoE so it is not pushed off - Warlock - at most, have one affliction warlock (and the one aff lock should have appropriate raid talents) - Consider warlocks with only 1/5 SE removing it altogether, in deference to the lock who has 5/5. - Don't use 'deep wound' weapons, but warrior deep wound talent is good - Using the addon 'Demon' helps you track debuffs - You have to monitor your important debuff (stings, curses, faerie fire, etc) to make sure they remain up even when they do (inevitably) get pushed off. Any assistance, links, copies of your own policies, or discussion would be great. I also posted on the official eu forums here. Last edited by Overlock; May 28, 2008 at 12:08 PM.. Re: Debuff slot management: raid boss
I don't think you really need policies on what debuffs people can use or not. The only real problem I see with hitting the debuff limit is where youget to a point that you're constantly pushing thunder clap and Demo shout off (I think t-clap stays, but Demo Shout does fall off) so your tank has to sacrifice threat putting it up and also risks his survivability when it falls off prematurely. |

Re: Debuff slot management: raid boss
general rules are a bad idea not a specific shot at you but the main enh shammy rotation is flameshock earthshock and their dps will suffer without it. Other then that the one aff lock is a good idea when building a raid. |

Re: Debuff slot management: raid boss
Another reason for this, is that one of our warlocks had his curse of doom fall off, and it'd suck if that was just because of same lame debuff another class had put on. |

Re: Debuff slot management: raid boss
"Lame debuff another class had put on"......there are far more valuable debuffs for raid synergy that the opportunity to do a little more damage ![]() At the end of the day yes, it sucks that you might need to re-apply a curse but in the light of things like Imp Faerie Fire, or Judgement of the Crusader, Shadow Weaving, Misery....the only way you can ever ensure that your curse is up 100% of the time is to place a limit on other classes and thats not something I would ever advise....however prioritising on some fights is definately a good thing. I'm sure there was a thread regarding this subject...or more than one. The Warlocks Den Forums

The significant pieces of knowledge were to use the Demon addon and L60 curses. So I repeated that advice here. So I thought I'd see if there were other 'taboo' debuffs, or general rules of engagement, to manage the 40 debuff slots and further our collective knowledge. Re: Debuff slot management: raid boss
The only specific advice is very simply know what fights have critical debuffs, and what classes' debuffs are needed...then ensure those are up when required - Brutallus is a good case in point because of the tank surviveability issue for many guilds so Screech, Imp Demo Shout, Scorpid Sting etc need to be monitored carefully by the classes in question and replaced asap when they fall off. There's a lot of (For want of a better term) "Wow Knowledge" required in this case because to contradict the statement "Shamans: Never use Flame Shock" its a part of an Enhancement Shaman's rotation (as is Stormstrike and even if its consumed immediately by other effects its a debuff present on the boss for a short period of time) so you have to weigh the pro's and con's quite carefully. Most endgame 'locks don't have the opportunity to use personal DPS Curses so its simply a matter of monitoring their own assignment and replacing it appropriately. There didn't need to be a whole new thread started - adding to the extant threads would have been perfectly good
