Raid Groups

Do any of y'all get the shaft when it comes to raid groups? My guild has 3 raiding locks (2 destro including me and an aff. lock). I'm constantly put into a melee or tank group and never get into the boomkin, s priest, shaman group.

The mages usually whore out this group and whine to the gm if they're not in it. I'm usually in the top 5 on boss fight despite being in those crappy groups but was wondering if I should start bitching about being put into the better group?

I'm pretty sure if you'd take the mages outta that group and put me and the other destro lock we'd pull far ahead of the mages on the charts. The other raiding s priest is put into the healer group for mana regen so thats not an option either.

Just was curious if any of ya'll experience this "bastard treatment" locks in my guild receive.

Re: Raid Groups

My guild's raid leader is a destro lock, so I tagged along and gets special treatment in the caster buff group <3

Yeah, I know what you're going through, I'm psyched to get put with our healing shammy, a shadow priest though? Not for this lock. I don't mind too much, I still top meters

Re: Raid Groups

Sometimes we raid with 5 locks. I also usually get put in with the melee group since I am aff without any desirable buffs and usually also end out at least in the top five (one of our destro locks and a DP/ruin lock usually are the only ones to beat me). It does get kind of frustrating sometimes when I know I could be doing more damage if I were in a group that had some nice buffs and I wasn't always on cos/coe duty. If your raid does not need you to be in the melee group or you see a group that you could be switched into, it would be wise to try and make a comment to your raid leader to see if you could be switched.

Re: Raid Groups

Eh I've been getting shitty groups lately but still rape all the other casters on the damage meters. There could be a variety of reasons why, but most of it could(should) have to do with gear when your raid leader has you in a group that might be not the most beneficial. Maybe your other casters are lacking in crit and could use a moonkin more than you. Maybe they have more haste which will have them benefit more from wrath of air totem etc and you'd have more benefit from a group that may have a drum rotation. Best thing to do would be to ask

Re: Raid Groups

My last run in Gruuls showed in the 25man raid. The top damage and DPS were the only 2 warlocks in the raid. #1 destro spec lock #2 myself. Neither of us were in what you would consider the good or lead group yet the locks still brought on the heavy damage and DPS.

I'm ahead of most of the casters on most of the fights. They are lacking crit and im at 25% unbuffed so I think that's the main reason.

Another question. I can't seem to beat an arcane mage on overall damage in MH. Is this the same for others or I am just sucking it up and need to play better. Just asking because his overall was significially more than mine. he was #1 and I was #2 on overall damage.

Re: Raid Groups

Alot of raid leaders are horrible at making proper raid compositions. Its part of WoW.

If I ever get in a raid were the raid leader doesn't know what he is doing I will make a recommendation without trying to look like a smart ***.

Funny thing is, the majority of people who play this game dont really understand the synergy between classes.

Re: Raid Groups

If you're already topping damage meters then you're probably in the right group.

Another way to put is... Why would you need better buffs if you're already doing more than your fair share of damage?

Let the other classes get the buffs they so desperately need while you quietly get the job done well without them.

At first they never seemed to care where we locks were, and I really didn't care as we were doing fine anyway. Then one day, one of the other locks asks to get put in a better group. Just so happened, this is the same day I switched to Destro. Was funny watching me keep up with a lock in a group with 3 Shammies and a Druid while I was in the second healer group with 2 Pallies and 2 priests. After that, they started putting me in good groups, and I started pulling aggro....lol. Then they put me in crap groups again.
