Need help as a destruction warlock in WotLK
First of all, hello everybody, I'm new on the forum and I need help from some of you more experienced and skilled raiding warlocks. I recently decided to stop wasting time in WoW, and actually do something with my character. I had the luck of being accepted into one of my servers most serious raiding guilds after the release of Wrath of the Lich King and I really don't wanna screw it up. I'm just about to ding 80 and start raiding. Now I need your help. I would be very glad if you recommended tips about my specc (destro probably), gear (what attributes, gems, enchants), how should I dps in raids (spell circulation, please be accurate), what flasks/food/potions/elixirs should I bring and use, what pet should I use (or sacrifice), anything that would max out my dps (I asked the guild leader whether I should specc for more raid dps, and he said that's not needed, probably they already have another warlock with that specc or something), so basicly I ask you to post anything that could be usefull to a rookie pve destro lock and would help me be better than other locks in raids (sounds a bit harsh yea, but hey isn't that the point of WoW? ![]() I'm looking forward to your answers, and thank ahead |

Re: Need help as a destruction warlock in WotLK
Some threads you might want to check out to get you started. Raiding Builds - Collecting all info!! Destruction Raid DPS Keep an eye on this thread here: Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition) - it is rightly considered a gearing bible for warlocks throughout The Burning Crusade and is due to be updated with Wrath gear. Finally, if you need further assistance on fine tuning your spec, follow this format found here: How to submit a talent build question! Remember to use the search function too. There will be a lot of similar questions asked as we're a pretty large community so perhaps anything you need has already been answered. Adding to an existing thread is preferable to starting a new one so we can make the forums easier to navigate and help people in your situation. ![]() As you seem interested in a more general raiding discussion (your topic covers many areas), I'll allow the thread to develop and see what assistance comes your way. Oh and another thing in the form of some general advice: The point of WoW will vary from person to person, but the bottom line for many would be to have fun with the people around you. In raids, especially now warlocks aren't a surefire No.1 damage dealer, is to play your role well and support the raid's end objective, however that comes. If you're in raiding for the long haul, be mature and modest with your personal accomplishments, as it's only achievable with the co-operation of the 9/24 other players with you. Best of luck in Naxx!

Re: Need help as a destruction warlock in WotLK
I just dinged 80 like 2 days ago. Pre Wrath of the Lich King, I was a late t5-early t6 geared destro lock, and was my guild's warlock class leader. I had ~30% crit and ~15% haste. So by the time i hit 80 i had only replaced a few pieces. My previous 30% crit gear gave me about 12% crit. Destro has really always been a gear dependant spec. You need not only spell damage, but you gotta be hit capped (or close) and have a bit of crit (I normally told our warlocks to not go destro under 20-25% crit). Most other warlocks I have talked to on the server have remained affliction right after Wrath of the Lich King hit anyway, since coefficients and such are seeming to put it at a higher avg dps than destro (so far). |
