If you just all randomly get buffs and also if you don't break out the NPCs etc then you are losing a lot.

Watch the tankspot or stratfu Hodir hardmode video, and you will get an idea of strats to use to spread buffs around. For example, if melee gets a storm cloud, while it's true that the storm buff will increase melee DPS, Melee DPS has no other buffs to consider for the most part and therefore the storm buff is wasted on melee.

If a Melee has a storm cloud, they should immediately break off the boss and run to caster DPS so that they get the storm buff charges instead of other melee. This is because the DPS casters are more likely to be flexible in getting haste lights and the singed debuff being on the boss increases spell damage, not melee damage. So all 3 buffs are working synergistically to improve caster DPS by an amazing amount in this fight if everyone works together to make this happen.

If you are in an uncoordinated group or a pug, then you kind of have to fend for yourself. In that case, my suggestion is that you look for people with storm cloud and run to them yourself and hope you get the buff and then run back to haste lights (or to the nearest haste light). Also, if given a choice of two haste lights, stand in the one near a toasty fire so you dont have to move.

There is a lot going on in the fight, it's kind of easier when everyone has a role and does it (eg melee or anyone with storm clouds goes to caster DPS rather than caster DPS to them), hunters stand near toasty fires to load the boss with singed debuff, and casters wailing away at the boss in haste lights taking advantage of the teamwork from the others to have 3 buffs working for them.
Well as we are only a 10man guild doing normal mode we really do the basics on that fight. And we usually clear him first time unless someone stands somewhere they shouldn't. We always stand next to the fires and free the NPCs etc. Guess if we come to do the hard mode we would have to look into that.

Re: Hodir - Boss Strat

Hi,
can you tell me if the Storm Power increases Crit rangedDPS or just only melee. However rDPS needs to be vigilant to approach melee?

And or the stack Singed grows from DoT?

Storm power increases crit ranged DPS not just melee.

But to add to that -- actually back in the day when gear was Naxx-level, storm power was meant in many guild strats to be carried ONLY to ranged DPS in order to be able to stack the buffs properly to kill Hodir in hard mode (timed kill). It was considered a waste to carry storm power to melee, and at least in my guild, we had melee run out to give storm power to the ranged if a melee had it.

As for singed, I believe it is based upon an initial application of a spell. It won't grow because of a dot tick. Overall, hunters tended to be one of the best classes to apply this debuff because of their numerous separately counted attacks (they're also very good with kinetic orbs in Princes as well for a similar reason).
