Any thoughts on the best(most mana efficient spec) for hard mode. I'm kinday in a toss up with the fireguard spec(lots of free dps from pet) or deep destro(90% of your dps is buffed by the shadow crashes)

I personally think that deep destruction is the best build for this. It's a high burst DPS spec so you can gain the most from standing in crashes. Additionally, it has amazingly low mana usage. The last couple times I dps'd it, I only had to go in the saronite once.

Destro is a very very good build for this fight. When doing the hardmode I would have to wand to ensure I had enough mana to finish the fight, but the only spec that would beat that is perhaps a specialty affliction spec with shadowbolt glyph. the mana effcienty of drain soul is very very good for the end of the fight and dots scale incredible. Your shadow priests shoudl be eating this fight alive.

Tip: Keep your imp in the shadow crash. The better yo get at moving him in and out of it just lik eyou yourself do, the more damage he and you will do. Hasted imp means mroe Emp imp procs!! He can easily pull 1.5k dps while in a crash

Immolate and Conflag are not overly good DPM (damage per mana) spells, however in teh case of destruction they setup its samage so need to be used. Chos bolt is very cheap on mana so if your mana is running low and your wanding, still make sur eyou use it on cooldown.

We spent all last week beating the Hardmode, i love this fight but have nightmares of shadow crashes.

You may want to note the utility of porting for the mark of the faceless debuff.

And yeah, I use a destro build for this fight now. DPM, that arcane thing all other mana classes have to consider, really favors destro incin spam.

I'm sure your guild did it this way Soulzar, but you might want to include in the strat the extremely effective Fusion stacking method.

As in ranged stacking?

most effective way we found was two groups, one crash.

hey all wel finaly we are at general last night
but i got 1 question about the green stuf on the ground,you need to stand in it too get mana back right
wel last night i was oom,but wen i stept in the green stuf i didnt got any mana back for some reason
and i didnt stand in the green stuf 1 time but couple of times but nothing happend,evry time i waited til i got 6 stacks got out of it and in again for 6 stacks,wen i got out i only coud cast coruption and Curse of Agony and i was oom again
is the green stuf bugd or , cos i dont got a cleu why i didnt get mana back
but stil we had the general at 8% after 3 trys, think he dead general tonight

or am i missing somthing stil dont got a cleu why i didnt get mana back

There is some bug where if a pet get the killing blow they do not work. I may be mistaken but we have had that. Also jump onto it to make sure your on it and not "under it"

hmm yea maybe thats it cos we had a hunter and his pet killing the saronite vapors
and i wil try too jump too tonight wen im in the green stuff

Hello all, quick question as I havent been able to figure it out (due to being busy with the actual fight). I am normally my guilds Affliction warlock bitch (cause mages are so op they cant scorch apparently) and so I keep sbolt up all the time. I noticed that I do decently well DPS but I had a question about dot casting. I know haste doesnt effect them, but does the damage buff apply to the dots when cast or only when you are standing in the black?

I would assume its when you cast, but mechanics have been incredibly wierd with Uld. If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it as Hardmode inc tonight

While we're on the subject of Affliction, has anyone tested or speculated or even thought about whether Shadow Embrace - Spell - World of Warcraft affects Mark of the Faceless - Spell - World of Warcraft ? I can't get hold of the WWS records for our recent raids and google wasn't too useful this morning :(

The Mark looks like a HoT to me, so it's possible...

As for Asteroth's question, I think the first tick after you get out of the black stuff should be normaleven though for some odd reason when Haunt falls off and Corr is still up, I get a "There is a more powerful spell already on the target" error... Weird stuff indeed. Curse of Agony and UA don't give me any trouble though. (I don't normally clip anything but Haunt, but I had to do a fair amount of moving and didn't want Corr to drop off before I had time to start dotting the boss up again. Once I saw that error I tried the rest on dummies.)
