We've gotten the achievement in both 10 and 25m using a demonology warlock. The World of Warcraft Armory - Tyrene @ Llane - Profile So that's what I'd recommend. It's not a difficult encounter if you can get people to leave your orbs alone. Your designated healer needs to move with you and hold your hand. If you don't have a "designated" healer, find a new healing officer.

Re: Blood Council - Range Tanking

Don't bother tanking this with a warlock.

Since keleseth no longer melees, there's no reason to use a ranged tank for this. My guild did this pre-nerf and it was significantly harder because the margin for error is so much greater when using a ranged rank (what basically amounts to a non-plate wearer). Last night we did it with 2 tanks(pally and DK) and 2 healers (shaman and pally). Our pally MT had Taldaram and Valanar, and our DK OT had keleseth. We absolutely roflstomped it. There was no dangerous point in the fight.

Spell damage ignores armor and a class with dots IE warlock and spriest are better suited to orb collecting. If you want the meta, easier to use a caster.

Well, last night our DK was never in danger of dying and he had never done the fight before. He also did not have a dedicated healer, as we 2 healed it.

We got the achievement as well, so I don't agree with your statement.

Well if everyone agreed on everything it would be a very boring world indeed.

Re: Blood Council - Range Tanking

OK:

Good Keleseth tanks moves him with Demonic Portal when a Shock Vortex is on the melee kicking the crap out of him. Or a Fireball is passing through. Or somebody forgot about the Kinetic bomb (you can simultaneously tank him, pick up Nucleii, and keep the bomb up if needed).

It is infinitely harder to do this with a Melee tank except for maybe a warrior with Intervene or Intercept.

But last we checked, Spell Reflect doesn't work on the Shadow Lance.

I do not norm post on forums, but here goes.

Our guild failed 1st round, but our 2nd week I was using the following build 0/33/38 The World of Warcraft Armory - Vedadenx @ Stormreaver - Talents

Immo and Immo glyph i used for a little extra dps. but my main focus was getting orbs using curr dots and casting searing pain for agro. To be franki, I didnt know what other glyph to use. I didnt use lifetap, just to help healers out, and had the soul leach to comp for that. as well for the other casters in the raid. I had my fell hound on passive, I didnt want to manage him so I could focus on Orbs. For my amor I used Demon again to help the healers. I had no issues with agro once dps was on him.

Not sure if using this spec enabled our raid group to get the following ach but thought you guys should take a look.

The Orb Whisperer (10 player)
Defeat the Blood Council without anyone in the raid taking more than 23,000 spell damage in a single hit in 10-player mode.
01-26-2010

good luck guys,

VeDaDeN

hehe fair enough.

I'm just speaking from my experiences from this week to pre-nerf. When I was range tanking we had to make certain concessions (like a dedicated healer) and found the fight to be very difficult.

This week when we switched to a DK tank and only used 2 healers it was a joke. Perhaps some of that is everyone understanding the fight mechanics(minus the DK really, he'd never seen/done the fight before) but I not sure we would have done as well had I been tanking keleseth again.

Re: Blood Council - Range Tanking

downed council on 25 and 10m runs with me warlock tanking it in destro spec with voidy.

Just searing pain the hell out of the boss for silly aggro lead.

make sure to have 5 dark nukleuz on you and use voidy/soul link/shadow ward at all times the voidy can take damage for you with a dedicated healer to heal you and the voidy it shouldnt be that hard.

if you have trouble picking the nukleuzes up try to get your raid to run em to you if they spawm on the other side of the room,,,,,make sure you have tuskars on boots.

I think with this tactics and a bit of practice you will find its a darn easy fight to range tank.

Oh yeah while you have 5 nukleuz on you searing pain when you can on boss and keep dots rolling pick up the nukleuz with a corruption they will come to you.
