Re: Simulationcraft on post-3.1 specs
thats great, thnx may I ask you how many iterations you use for the scaling factors? I'm just wondering since I tried running up to 100k iterations and I still got large variations for the same scalings in two consecutive runs. I just do ./Warlock_SPEC.simcraft iterations=100000 calculate_scale_factors=1 on OSX most of the time, some runs on linux also. I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong, since 100k iterations should be enough to get these scalings quite accurately... Another question on the Meta rotation: Metamorphosis is popped whenever it is off cooldown. Life Tap is used to keep mana up when Meta is not up, to maximize dps output during Meta-phase. Glyph buff is still kept up during meta? Immolation is dropped below 35% since you need max range to weave... Is that more or less correct? |

Re: Simulationcraft on post-3.1 specs
Very nice post. I was asking me if it was possible to get a chart of the dps without the execution part(25% for affliction or 35%). The idea is to know what will be the lost of dps if we miss our decimation 1:1 or drain soul. I would like to know the dps of 0/41/30 or 0/40/31 cause sometime we need high burst but don't have the possibility to use decimation 1:1 correctly(emalion add to burst, raizortail,...) Maybe a chart with a decicmation 2:1 to have something more realistic ? |

Re: Simulationcraft on post-3.1 specs
for the 0/41/30 spec: One thing I dont see taken into account is that due to travel time of incinerate, when the mob is under 35% you usually have a second or two to cast another spell before your proc goes off to start casting your soulfire. Since threat is still not too much of an issue, I usually squeeze in a searing pain or refresh a DoT as needed. Unless you are very far away, there is not enough time to do another incinerate. this seems to minimize down time and still allow you to take advantage of the proc for soulfire. |

Original Thread on EJ It gets updated frequently. It would also probably be nice to credit it back to the originall |

Re: Simulationcraft on post-3.1 specs
I just pulled the latest source, r2252, and get this: I think its a problem with the new pet mana implementation, since compared to the older results only the imp dps went down, the rest didn't change a lot. so this is what happens with improper pet management also kinda shows how easily you can find wrong results from a simulation. Interestingly this dps loss is also present in the Sampleoutput on the simcraft website, noone seems to have noticed it. |
