I was trying to stay away from this since its an 'Introduction' - seems a little advanced. I also was going to avoid detracting from the work Suspiria did with CC, so linked to their post instead of duplicating work.

As soon as I get access to edit the guide I will include the additional information and some pictures. I'll also check out the addon you suggested .
--- Information Added ---
Updated to include graphics and a little bit more info (as provided above). I don't like how the graphics break up the text, but I'm pretty limited by the formatting in vBulletin.

Thanks for the input Cormanthor and Shdwboxn, I'll do what I can to stay on top of the guide.

Thanks for the guide bud, my onlt thing would be to suggest Diamond threat meter over omen, i find it does a far better job.

Re: Introduction to User Interface Modification: Macros and Addons

I used to use diamond, and I did find that it was a bit more accurate on the warnings. I also found that it slowed down my game a lot - especially in the 25 man runs.

Quote:
Omen3 relies completely on the Blizzard threat API and threat events. It does not attempt to calculate or extrapolate threat unlike Omen2.
Omen apparently uses Blizzard APIs, so if Blizz tweaks something the estimates don't go far out of whack. I also found that between Recount and DTM a lot of resources were being used to parse the combat log and display the data graphically. I chose to go with Omen3 instead of looking for a Recount replacement that does not parse the logs - I don't even think thats possible.

I do miss the nice graphical display, and the Tank Mode was really useful. before Omen3 it was a staple addon for me since it was compatible with both Omen and KTM, and could estimate other peoples threat even if they didn't have a threat mod. I was just tired of the impact to my system performance, and Omen3 seems capable of everything necessary.

If anyone is interested, here is a screenshot I took to demonstrate DTM from a DPS point of view. When you hit the warning threashold you get a large threat bar - I was at 94% in this case, probably in melee range so my limit was 110%.
