Having Problems with your DPS?
Well hi and welcome to the most basic things you need to do to improve your dps. This will cover probably 90% of the questions out there about why DPS is low. Every thread asking for help it comes down to 3 things. Not enough hit, not knowing what to cast and when, and misused spec points (pvp talents for pve build). ---This shall be a work in progress--- So be sure to let me in on mistakes, changes or additions to said information. 1.0 Hit... great. a few comments: the hit rating section is too long in my opinion. I'd just give them the numbers, e.g. 263/289/341/... etc for alliance and horde, and link to some gearing thread. if we had a more complete 3.1 raiding spec overview I would suggest removing the links to simcraft posts. But for now we have to live with them. |

I'd venture to say that Meta/Ruin DPS would be very competitive until T7+ geared raiding, and even then we're talking maybe 500 DPS behind in perfect conditions... which never exist. For Warlocks without the best gear, Meta builds do very well in DPS, the build just does not scale as well as Aff or Destruction with BestInSlot gear. For most people struggling for DPS, they won't likely be wearing full T7.5, and hence the Meta builds will be great DPS for the majority of them, and it certainly wouldn't be what was causing their DPS issues. I'd like to see 0/55/16 included in this guide. The last thing I want to see is some new Warlock that loves his Meta form kicked from Pug Heroic groups because it's not "a DPS spec", when in reality it would do just fine and possibly better than those you list in most situations. Not only can Meta specs be competitive in DPS - if not the theoretical top - but DP can boost group and raid DPS as well. In short, although you are technically correct from a theorycrafting point of view, I think you need to include at least one Meta build in the guide. It would be nice to do the two top ones, but even just 0/55/16 would be fine. Leaving Meta out completely is going to burn some warlocks unjustly, or dissuade them from playing a good spec. Sure, you can note that it's not the top DPS spec with BIS gear at end-game raiding, but that only applies to what, 2-5% of the WoW players out there? Also, in the Hit category, you might want to mention hit food such as Worg Tartare as a way to get capped if you are not quite there.

Did add some updates if it wasn't noticed yet. Added a Demo build and the worg tartar to quick hit items. I have not trimmed the hit section yet. On the line about this as the 2 links more than cover an extra questions. so we'll see. |

Thx for trying to collect most of lock's dps problems into one posting!
