Warlock 3.1 Raiding Guide!!

HERE is a link to the Elitist Jerk's thread where i will be taking things from. For those of you too lazy to read it all, here's a quick summary of important bits:

Number one thing to remember: Glyph of Life Tap should be used in EVERY spec!

Affliction

Deep Affliction Personal DPS

Rotation

Life Tap>Shadow Bolt>Haunt>Corruption>Unstable Affliction >Curse of Agony

Start with Life Tap to activate glyph. Follow with Shadow Bolt to apply the first stack of Shadow Embrace and then Haunt to provide the second stack as well as give the damage modifier to DoTs. Then put up your DoTs. After that you will be using Shadow Bolt as filler ensuring to refresh your DoTs as needed as well as casting Life Tap to keep up the buff.

Under 25% you will be in execute phase and will replace Shadow Bolt with Drain Soul as your filler spell.

Glyphs

* [item]Glyph of Life Tap[/item]: Default lock glyph giving big dps boost
* [item]Glyph of Haunt[/item]: Increases damage bonus from Haunt
* [item]Glyph of Curse of Agony[/item]: Increases duration and DPET for Curse of Agony

Demonology

Raid DPS - Demonic Pact

Rotation

This spec is 100% reliant on you keeping your FG alive. Remember just because you have Soul Link, doesn't mean you should use it. If your FG dies, it's priority #1 to get it back up.

You have some nice cooldowns to use as this spec, between meta, and Demonic Empowerment you can really churn out the dps. Time your meta for heroism, if you can set up your portal, and charge the boss, immolate and port back, it's a high amount of dps.

Your basic rotation consists of Immolate CoD, Corr SB spam, and then doing the weave below 35% And don't forget to Lifetap ever 20 seconds!

How to weave decimation:

Begin Casting SB1
finish cast SB 1
begin cast of SB 2
SB 1 hits Decimate procs
finish cast of SB 2
Cast soulfire 1
finish casting soulfire 1 decimate clears
SB 2 hits decimate procs
Cast SB 3
cast soulfire 2

So you start 2xiSB 1x sf 1x SB 1x sf repeat 1:1 rotation.

Glyphs:

Glyphs

* [item]Glyph of Life Tap[/item] This new glyph massively boosts our dps and gets worked into our cycle.
* [item]Glyph of Felguard[/item] Increases the dps from your Fg by a good margin.
* [item]Glyph of Immolate[/item] It boosts immolate's damage.

Destruction

Deep Destro Replenishment

Deep Destro Personal DPS

Rotation:

The rotation for Deep destro builds revolves around cooldowns, buffs and dots, the following list is a priority list.

1. Glyph of Life Tap 20 seconds
2. Immolate 15 seconds
3. Conflagrate 10 seconds
4. Choasbolt 12 seconds+cast time
5. Curse of Doom 60 seconds
6. Backdraft 15 seconds/3 charges

So basically, the first cycle of rotation goes like this.

Lifetap rank 1 ->Curse of Doom -> Immolate -> Conflag [backdraft starts] -> Choas bolt -> incin -> incin [backdraft ends]

Then you just rinse and repeat, try and squeeze chaos bolt through backdraft if you can keep up LT, and Conflag on cd. When the boss has less than 60 seconds to live switch to Curse of Agony.

Glyphs:

* [item]Glyph of Life Tap[/item] This new glyph massively boosts our dps and gets worked into our cycle.
* [item]Glyph of Conflagrate[/item] Add in this to the new Conflag glyph is self explanatory.
* [item]Glyph of Immolate[/item] It boosts immolate's damage, as well as conflag's, double win!

use Glyph of Incinerate until you can attain Glyph of Lifetap.

Hyrbrid

Personal Dps Demo/Destro Hybrid

Rotation:

Our Rotation above 35% consists of the following priority list: Lifetap (use rank 1 approaching the boss) to trigger the glyph of lifetap, Immolate conflag (it is much more speedy this patch than it has been) Curse of Agony/Corruption applied for MC procs. Then from there spam incinerate and lifetap every 20 seconds to maintain the buff. You should get 3 conflags for every 2 immolates for maximum dps.

Under 35% we get into the Decimate range and what's known as weaving. It isn't easy by any means but it's not intrinsically hard, it does suffer from latency though. The idea is this, for each incinerate you shoot at the mob, you gain 1 decimate buff. Each incinerate has 2 times associated with it, and this is the important part. The first being a cast time, and this will scale with haste obviously in the same way that soulfire will. The second is travel time. At max distance, this travel time is roughly equal to the cast of soulfire. The idea is to get your rotation like this. Note the sequencing in events.

1. Begin Casting Incin1
2. finish cast incin 1
3. begin cast of incin 2
4. Incin 1 hits Decimate procs
5. finish cast of incin 2
6. Cast soulfire 1
7. finish casting soulfire 1 decimate clears
8. incin 2 hits decimate procs
9. Cast incin 3
10. cast soulfire 2

So you start 2xincin 1x sf 1x incin 1x sf repeat.

When refreshing dots and what not, in order to keep your rotation as smooth as possible. Use a rotation like this, Incin, SF, dot/dot, incin, sf

Additional Things!

DoTimer: Pretty self explanatory - if you are NOT using this mod, you are doing something wrong...

Things that Raiding Warlocks should know

If your +hit rating is at 14% (soft capped), you do NOT need to spec into suppression, as we will always have either a shadow priest or moonkin druid on ulduar progression raids.

If we have an unholy DK or moonkin druid, we do NOT need to cast curse of elements, if we don't, we will sort out who is casting CoE beforehand. Generally, Demo or Destro locks should be casting CoE over affliction locks, as Curse of Agony accounts for more of afflictions DPS (especially when talented/glyphed)

Spellstone should be used in affliction and the demo/destro hybrid specs, for full demonology and destro, firestone is better, even with the nerf

You can now obtain soul shards from target dummies in capital cities! There is NO excuse to not have a full 32 slot bag of shards for EVERY raid. It is also your responsibility to make shards during the raid, and to ensure that you always have a healthy amount. Remember you can now get shards without the creature dying. If we are wiping a lot on bosses, it is often a good idea to throw up a drain soul in instances where we know there is a wipe incoming (enrage timer, tank dies) If the raid leader asks for a soulwell or a summoning stone and you do not have enough shards, it is YOUR fault!

For progression, warlocks should be using [item]Flask of the Frost Wyrm[/item] and [item]Firecracker Salmon[/item]. You should have at least 10 flasks, and 2 stacks of food at the start of every raid. Do Not rely on someone else to bring fish feasts. If you bring the mats to these items to the raid, someone will most likely be able to make them for you on the spot. [item]Potion of Speed[/item] are not compulsory, but are certainly very helpful to those of you hoping to contribute the most to your guild.

If you take nothing else from this post, take this final quote of advice:

Quote:
If the tank dies, it's the healer's fault. If the healer dies, its the tank's fault. If the DPS dies, it's their own damn fault!

Re: Warlock 3.1 Raiding Guide!!

Just a heads up that you can just paste the http link to the item here, not use [item]Glyph of Life Tap[/item]

So it would be: http://www[dot]wowhead[dot]com/?item=45785

Re: Warlock 3.1 Raiding Guide!!

I have a 3.1.2 raiding guide I'm writing with Clearly right now, which we'll be submitting after 3.1.2 comes out, but I thought I should mention some points here:

1. Glyph of lifetap should NOT be used in "every" spec. Specs with Imp Soul Leech should NOT use lifetap glyph.

2. This one I cannot stress enough, so I'm going to make it red. DO NOT lifetap every 20 seconds. That is completely wrong. What you should be doing is trying to estimate how many lifetaps you'll need over the course of the fight, and then try to spread those lifetaps out evenly throughout the fight. You can also lifetap if you have nothing to refresh and you're moving.

3. There are alternative to dotimer, such as forte exorcist.
